IMO no. There are far better rare amulets or even magical ones, especially for hammerdins who don't need the combat bonuses. Defensive auras aren't that popular, and you can live very will without boosting them.

My zealot is using it and it serves him very well. He doesn't need resists, so for him it is superior to Mara's. The added damage and ar aren't huge, but it does make a difference, especially for his primary purpose, which is DClone hunting :)

The defensive aura bonus does seem a bit pointless though.

I don't see why people post questions like this. Sorry for sounding rude, but like do you really need people to tell you how to use an item?

Items are in the game, use them however way you want.

If you want +2 skills and added damage, then use this. If you complain that you need resists, use something else.

I'm adding fuel to this fire by posting, but I couldn't help myself. This is such a useless thread.

Any %ed from non-weapons and %ed to demons/undead in general isn't modified by skill bonuses, it's just like having the strength score increased by 20-50 which won't add that much to damage. In addition, the bonus is small when comparing with the bonus from e.g. Laying of Hands.

The amulet is not useless, of course, but I wouldn't spend too much for it.

And yes, the question was "What are its uses" and my answer was "No". It seems I answered a different question  . So here is the real answer.

The use of this item is to wear it mainly because of its bonus to all skills. The other bonuses aren't that useful. If you have a +2 paladin amulet with mods like leech or resists for a melee paladin respectively resists or fcr for a caster paladin, wear that one instead.

Wouldn't this bonus be especially useful to a Tesladin or Holy Fire pally for its synergies? My chargadin uses this ammy (+1 def, grrrr) and he does alright because he doesn't need any more res. As soon as I find (or gamble) a better ammy I was planning on making a holy fire ranger, so any answers to my question would be helpful in making my final decision.

You don't get a synergy bonus from +skills.

It's pretty nice for a Defiant Paladin. Besides the the defensive tree is full of few-point-wonder skills (i.e. Meditation, Redemption, Vigor, Salvation) that'll get a nice boost from this amulet.

Paladin builds are all about flexibility (at least they used to be) and finding gear that'll complement each other and the build. Comparing every amulet to Maras, is a bit short-sighted, IMHO. Let's take a close look at the much heralded Mara's:

+2 To All Skill Levels: Big woop, you can get this on rare amulets.
All Resistances +20-30: A Paladin whose lacking for resists, should really be playing another character class.
+5 To All Attributes: Effectively that translates to +15 stats (+5 to Energy is useless for a Paladin), considering you can get +30 str, +20 to dex, or +60 to life on a rare it's not a big deal.

I've had more than 20 (I do have a life outside D2) 90+ Paladins in 1.09 and 1.10 combined, not a single one used Mara's. I have at least 3-4 sitting on mules, or other characters class builds.

Anyway, I have a +2 defensive Seraph , that's going on my next paladin.

For damage i think highlords would give a better damage bonus.
Unless of course you are already maxed on deadly strike.
