Self ID and Cain ID

Self ID and Cain ID

I once read a long time ago that identifying an item yourself takes your level in account (same with gambling and levels). Is it better to ID items yourself or can you just take them to cain to ID?

No difference. Item stats, affixes etc. are generated upon the item's creation, and it dosen't make the least bit of difference, who identifies them.

Just be careful. Cain has a nasty habit of thinking SoJs are really Nagels and Manalds.

If you get a character of level 95+, who's wearing a nagel and a raven and has a dwarf, a manald, a whisp, a nature's peace, a carrion wind and BK in stash, to identify a golden ring by Cain, every single one is a SoJ. This has worked for me every time I have tried it!

....which is never btw. :whistling:

Heh... I actually have found each and every last one of those rings EXCEPT the damn SoJ. It's somewhat infuriating, but then again... I only want it for the +1 skill. So that nifty 5% BK ring was also a nice find ^^

Actually, there is one way to "force" a golden ring to be a Stone of Jordan, you just have to find all the other golden rings possible in that game first ^^

I was incredibly lucky this season with SoJs. I think i found 5 of them... last one being from the golden chest in pit lvl 2. On the other hand, i didn't find a single BK this ladder :(

Thats an urban legend and I can personally assure you that it is fake. While I never found so many UNID rings in a single game, I HAVE found multiple dwarfstars in a single game. One time I even had 2 dwarfstars being dropped by one pack of monsters (if it came from one monster I cant say since they died too fast). I also found 2 wisps in a single game too.

unless you meant I should actually find a UNID ring for the Soj, manald, BK, dwarfstar, ravenfrost, Wisp, natures peace, nagelring and carrion ring... (so 9 unid rings in a game) in a single game but not IDing them until I actually have 9 unid rings... I wouldnt know if that works since I never bothered to find NINE unid rings in a single game ¬¬

I have trouble believing that you had more than one of the same unique item fall in the same game (no SE inbetween). The game is coded so that such an occurance isn't possible. You can find multiple set items, but not uniques, which is why they are unique to being with. This is why what Dawnmaster said is accurate. If you do happen to find 9 unique rings in the same game one will be a SOJ, that's just how the game works. Granted doing this isn't very easy. As I just played through the entire game Normal-Hell (multiple game sessions) and didn't find a single unique ring.

Mursilis, I am not making this up. I remember this occurance so well because I wanted a dwarfstar at the moment (my friend found one in an earlier game) and I just found not one, but two at the same time no less.

Also, I have read stories of other people who found more than one kind of unique in the same game. You can think of that as you will, but unless this was changed in 1.11 (when it happened to me it was 1.10) I stand by my story that it can happen.

I did. And it's interesting. But I know what happened to me. I guess that probably makes me seem like one of those online liars who try and keep up certain myths, so be it.
