Seeking EC soft ladder players PvM

Here's the skinny...

I've been playing LoD since it came out, so I'm not a newbie, but until the past year, I was in the US military. For me, it's been like another mode of play beyond hardcore, where all my characters suffered from a terminal illness of some sort, and would die no matter what when I was deployed for 18 months at a time.

Now I'm out of the service and have the time to actually play a few hours a day and know that my characters aren't going to get deleted or expired. And here I am, starting fresh, late in the ladder season.

I think we all know what's it's like to start fresh and have no good runes, no high runewords, no smack-hell-Baal-twice-and-he's-dead gear, and try to hold your own on the ladder.

So, I'm looking for mature, no BS, FRIENDLY people to play with for East Coast softcore ladder games. The kind of people who just enjoy playing the game how it was meant to be played and don't get wrapped around the axle when it comes to things like wealth and having elite gear. The kind of people who play in a party, kill Ball, and instead of rushing the drops like a bunch of vultures, take the time to consider what drops would be most appropriate for what player. The kind of players who see a Pul drop and say, "You know, I've already got two, and I know this guy over here doesn't have one," and then let him grab it or grab and it give it to him. The kind of people who find a Vampire Gaze or Occy and give it away for free because they already have one. In short, the kind of people who are mature enough to play in a party and make decision based on the greater good of the TEAM, and not selfish impulses to try and be the most wealthy guy on the server. The kind of people who realize that an investment in the team now with lead to the entire team getting better things in the future as a result.

I'm NOT interested is duelers, friendly or not. I think it's pointless. Regardless of if you win or lose a duel, what did you actually gain? An ear? Waste of time, in my opinion. Diablo is a game, which means it's designed to be a fun pasttime to provide enjoyment, not a lifestyle or some type of ego trip where you have to fight other players to prove who has the biggest... uhh... body parts designed for reproduction, shall we say.

Currently, I've got a level 78 pure Avenger Pally, and level 60-ish sword WW barb, and a level 70 pure cold sorc that I use for MFing NM and NM countess runs. The Pally is slowly plugging away through Act 2 Hell currently, and I can't help but think that some other folks with a good attitude might wanna join up and reap the benefits of a level 25 conviction aura.

So, there it is. Feel free to add my account or message me here as I'll be checking daily. Account name is on-on_hasher

And for the record, I'm 31 and when playing, occasional smoke breaks WILL happen ;-)

*Edit* I am not opposed to the idea of starting a clan of sorts. No silly rules about it, no having to require people to use some initials in all their character names. Just a collective of like-minded nice folks who enjoy playing and helping each other out, sharing info and tips, and whatnot. A fun place for us 'outcasts' to play.

Heya diablofly.

Im in a similar situation as you, I used to play pretty seriously about a year and a half ago, but had to quit due to real life situations.

Now that im back, im looking to try and start up again, and would like to have a friend to level/gear up with (All of my buds quit when I did and are currently playing WoW).

I'll be checking back in this thread today when I get home from mid-terms, but please feel free to PM me, or add me in-game (Mastawok53)

I actually was planning on playing non-ladder (No particular reason), but after reading your post, it pretty much epitomized how I was feeling now. Anyway, ill hopefully talk to you today and we can set sometime up.

You can add me if you want someone to walk through hell with you. I have one semi good/expensive character I managed to build up. I dont keep drops if someone needs, I tend to make a good profit off of organ running rather then mfing. For the fun of it I tend to walk through hell acts just killing for something else to do, and company is always great :)

I picked up a Battle Chest a few days ago at EBGames and was debating whether or not to play on the ladder but it would be cool to play with people who don't seem to be mindless drones.

I'm only level one but I'll catch up eventually...

I get bored pretty quick and it would be nice to have not 12 year olds to play with once in awhile.

*coolnamehere111 if you feel like doing runs.

I would be up for this, a lot of my guildmates who restarted scl with me aren't really playing much or are just pubbing 24/7 anyway.

*morgant, *morgant1 atm.
I'll try to hop in the chan occasionally I guess.

Wow! Good support. The day after I posted, my awesome girlfriend surprised me with a "mini vacation" out of town and I just got back in town. Didn't mean to start something and then disappear. I'll be on pretty regular for the next few days, I'm sure. I've added all of you and I'll check for you guys in the channel. BTW, GREAT name for a channel. Ha!

So, over the past few days I've had a chance to meet and talk with a few of ya. Haven't met someone I didn't care for yet, so this seems to be a pretty good thing we've got going here.

The one thing that I have noticed that we are missing is some sort of organization. About an hour ago, I did a list of friends, and noticed that 11 of us were on at the same time, but all scattered across B-net. Not only that, but in talking with folks and reading posts here, we've got folks in norm, NM, and Hell difficulties.

So, here's what I'm proposing. Certainly, nobody expects that just because you've posted here, you're obligated to play with just this group. But, if you're in the mood, I think we should set up a system so we can find each other. Number 1, if you wanna play with other members of this group, meet up in channel Diablofly. If you don't know how, it's easy. Just connect to B-net and enter chat. Then click the channel button, and type 'diablofly' in the same area where you would normally type in a game name to join. That'll put you in the channel.

Now, if people are already in the channel and playing, they won't know you're there, and there's not really a way to know who's in what game. So, I propose a simple system for naming games if you want to play with this group. Name your games using the following system. Start with "df" (for diablofly) and then the difficulty (norm, nm, or hell) and then digits, starting with 01. That way, if you need to remake a game, you can just move on to 02. By the time you get to 10, you can probably just restart the numbering at 01.

So, as an example, if you're working on a character in NM, and you log on and want to play with other folks from this group doing NM stuff, try joining game "dfnm01". If you get in, but there's nobody there, then obviously someone just was within the last 5 minutes, but has moved on, so try 02. And so forth and so on. Or, we can all whisper each other, if you wanna take the easy route. lol

If nothing else, this will provide us with an easy way to link up with each other until we can be in the channel and chat there between games. And, of course, I am not suggesting that you guys only use these names.... just trying to set up a system to find each other.

I think the main thing at this point is that we're just getting started as a group, and we'll each pop into the channel, see nobody there, and then pop back off to go play elsewhere. And then 10 minutes later someone else does the same thing. And then again, and again.... and we all just keep missing each other. I think once we get established playing together and know that others will be there, we'll be good. But I think maybe a system for finding each other right now is what we need to get the little extra "push" to get over this initial hurdle.

BTW, on a separate topic... I was playing today and found a REALLY good item for a zon. I don't have a zon, and I felt a little guilty just tossing it to a merchant. I was thinking that maybe we can establish some sort of trading bulletin board as well. I don't know if we're allowed to do that on this forum though. What do you guys think? Any suggestions, ideas, or comments?

**EDIT** And by trade, I mean trade or just find out who needs what kind of items so you can give free to the appropriate person. As an example, I collect Pgems to trade for Puls (or whatever lower runes I happen to need at the time). I think it would be good to know what kinda stuff each of us does. I know there are a few of you already who deal in keysets and organ sets. I was mainly trying to think of a way we can chart each other so we know who to contact if we have certain items.

Heya diablofly, we've both missed each other (First you went away, then ive been gone for a bit).

I agree with everything your saying, we can just keep good items we dont need in our stash and advertise in the channel to see if anyone needs them. It would also be fun to start up some of our own MF runs, since we clearly have enough people. We wouldnt have to worry about anyone stealing drops and we could start to gear each other up.

Right now it says my CD key is already in use for some reason (Kinda scary), but hopefully ill be on tonight and I can meet everyone.

We should try and set up a time this week where we all meet in the channel and figure out some MF runs, trading board, ect.

Hope to see you on!

-Trev
