    Screenshots? (Not DII)

How do you take a screenshot of your desktop or a web-page? I thought that printsceen would do it, but maybe I'm just looking in the wrong folder for it...

When you hit print screen it saves to your clipboard, go into Paint and paste it. Then save.

Seriously, this needs to be stickied or something, we get these every couple of weeks or so.

We might as well replace the firefox mem leak sticky (Both Smeg and Freet said it's no longer "needed"...) with a OTF Tech Help FAQ... :azn:

Another reminder concerning prntscrn, holding down alt at the same time takes a screenshot of the active window only

The best thing to do if you're going to do it at least semi-regularly is get a decent screenshot program like HyperSnap though.

Why's that? Do tell... The description(s) I found didn't seem to say much that sounded useful.... If I want quick and dirty i paste in Paint Shop Pro 3 (or 4), if I want better saving quality (or to do some manipulation), GIMP.

You can paste it other places rather than just Paint.

Well, it has heaps of neat features, but the two most important as far as I'm concerned are the fact that you can take multiple screenshots one after the other (without having to open a new paint document and paste after each one), and it allows you to take pictures inside games and other things that use hardware acceleration.

You could always load Linux and it will ask you where you want it saved and it saves as a .png. So much easier than opening up windows.

You can make it default to a certain place(OS X defaults to the desktop) and you can change the type of file it saves as too.

I figured such would be a logical feature... but whoever the public relations was for the program neglected to mention that feature which I agree is quite useful.

And pictures of parts of the screen, or specific windows only.
