No...

you need to have a .gif picture (they are the most compressed), size 75 x 75 pixels and only a few KB big (I think 19 kb?) and it needs to be uploaded onto a server (like where you have your homepage or a free hosting site). Then you need to link that avatar in your cp to the site where it is hosted.

If you are a Pay Pal, the image can be hosted here. You cannot link an image to your harddrive.

pictures can be saved in several formats:

.gif
.jpg
.bmp

to name a few popular ones.

Gifs are really small AND can even be animated (like my avatar)

Sure, but only if you shrink them a helluva lot. (In which case you won't be able to tell what it is anymore.)

get a photobucket account. put that screeny on it. then use the url from photoshop and put it in the spot where it asks you to put the url of your pic if its on the web

Now you know what a gif is. You need a program like Painter or Photoshop (expensive) or whatever freeware there is that can save pictures as .gif-files.

Suggestion: If you have a photo that you like to be shrunken and converted you can put it up at a free hosting site. Tell us the link to that site. I will download it and shrink it as gif for you...then send it to you...

I did it on microsoft word and it was 70 by 70 pixels still didn't accept it
