Scourge - a phase blade alternative?

Recently created a fanat zeal paladin and really enjoying it. Considering dabbling in some of the paladin variations, which frequently reference phase blades for runewords as do many other builds. Having had a quick look at some of the basic items, is there any reason why a scourge could not do the job just as well? (e.g. voice of reason). I know it has less consistent damage, but overall the average is slightly higher. Would also increase the options for finding a v fast socketed weapon.

There is: Phase Blade IS faster - it has a weapon speed of -30 while a scourge has -10 (lower is better).
Phase Blade is the fastest weapon available which is why it's recomended for a lot of runewords.

Look at the "weapon speed" instead of "swing speed" in the wiki (http://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Category:Weapons)
The "very fast", "fast" etc. are most of the time quite useless :nod:
