Sceptres count as maces??

Yes. Also, an easy way to figure out things such as this, is if u look at the weapon in game, when it shows the speed, it tells you in most cases. For instance, when done to a scepter, it says Mace class: x attack speed, x being whatever the particular attack speed of that particular sceptar is..

for mastery? if i used astreons iron ward does mace mast boost the dmge?
For barbarian masteries scepters will get a damage boost from mace mastery. As far as runewords are concerned scepters are NOT maces and will not work with runewords meant for "maces". Maces in the game are strictly morning star/flail and their excep/elite counterparts.

Friend of him learned this the hard way. He has a nice KoVexPulThul Battle Hammer he'd like to trade you for a HoTO, though. :(

Omikron forgot 1 thing... The actual Mace.

Maces = Mace, Morning Star, Flail, and Exceptional/Elite versions. This does not include any other types of Maces.

Those of course only apply to the Runewords...

For the Mastery, and Blunt weapon (Wand, Staff, Scepter) and even any other Mace types (Flail) count. Just like Raging_Zealot said...
