    Scamlist(???)

I just have a few questions about how a scamlist in diablo may look like.
I saw that this site wont create one due too the size it will become. I
thought I can create one myself. I have my own webserver with php and mysql.
So it wouldnt be a problem. The only problem is that I dont know what
kind of info would be listed on a scammer list for Diablo.

    Best regards.

If you dont wanna help dont post, I know it's a HUGE task to create this.

reposted due to posted in the wrong forum

Well, probably realm and account names, though I don't think it could be of much help. I mean sure, looking up the account names would help prevent a huge portion of people getting scammed, but after a while people would just keep recreating new accounts.
It's a pretty solid idea though. Props for taking the initiative.

We don't maintain or allow one simply because it's always one party's word against the others, and screenshots can be photoshopped.

You may be able to maintain one yourself, but it still comes down to the above mentioned problem.

    True, it's word against word.
The screenshot thingy is easy to manipulate.

I could create a videolibrary, a guide how to record a video with a max
videosize and host a testversion of a good software for capturing the screen.

Videos are alot harder to manipulate :)

...meaning you have to anticipate you're getting scammed?

It aint hard to start to record and if you didnt get scammed to delete the
    recording.

So no you do not have to anticipate anything. If someone think its so hard to
press a single button twice (start / end) they should not play/trade either.

This sounds like way more work than exercising the common sense needed to not be a victim.

It's just too much of a hassle, both to do the video thing, and to maintain an up-to-date list. You could just take advantage of the trading forums we have here and use the Trade Rating system that is implemented. It seems to work pretty well, and drastically lowers the chance of being scammed when you're just trading among members with a decent trade rating.

    Re: Scamlist(???)

And SD can still say that it was about a different trade when you come up with a video.

If you have innocent persons on your scammer list, you will be blamed for giving liars a platform for their schemes. I wouldn't be surprised if my bnet account ends on it because of that, even though I never, ever cheated, scammed or stole anything on bnet (except taking the money+ear after a failed PK attempt counts as such), as I banned a couple of persons from these forums, among which the low-life scum concentrates, naturally.

Not to forget, the scammers will hate you as well :azn:

It's also relatively easy for someone to change account names, simply by transferring everything they have to another account. What happens when their scammer account gets auto-deleted due to being inactive and someone else picks it up? They'll be wrongly listed as a scammer.
