Just FYI...this is the statistics forum. This should go in the community forum. Also your Druid post should go in the druid forum. Just lettin ya know.

In answer to your question: str, vit, fhr and autorepair.

Sandstorm has up to +15 strength, allowing you to put as few base points as possible into strength, as well as up to +15 vitality, which is a nice life boost. It also has FRW, which is always nice, and 20% FHR, which helps a lot. Finally, it has huge poison resists as well as auto-repair so you can take advantage of ethereal ones for the extra defense.

Mostly people like it because of the +str bonus and +fhr bonus, but also the +poison resist is a plus
Spirit doesn't give PR, so i usually put them on spirit wearing sorcs.

There is a Tal rune in spirit shields, so they always have at least 30% poison resist. Perhaps you are thinking tal rasha sorcs?

If you want to mf, wear war travs
If you are a meleer use gore foot
If you are a non-mfing spellcaster use aldur's boots, marrowwalks, or sandstorms.

Something's wrong with your sorceresses then ;). You better check the "Spirit" mods again :

"Spirit" Shield
+2 to all skills
+25-35% faster cast rate (varies)
+55% faster hit recovery
+250 defense vs. missile
+22 to vitality
+89-112 to mana (varies)
cold resist +35%
lightning resist +35%
poison resist +35%

+3-8 magic absorb (varies)
attacker takes damage of 14

EDIT : I think Waterwalk (PVM) or Upgraded Hot Spur (PVM/PVP) are much better choices to fix up the Fire lack in "Spirit".
