    Samurai Jack.

My local retailer finally got around to ordering season 1 of Samurai Jack for me, and I just finished watching it.

Man, I love that cartoon. So stylish. So action-packed. So addictive! It's a perfect amalgam of Akira Kurosawa, old Clint Eastwood westerns and any number of 70's-era Kung Fu movies. Love it, love it, love it!

Mako's voice work as Aku is probably the best aspect of the whole series. Sadly, he passed away, so when the feature film is released, it will be missing a major aspect. But hey, lets' hope for the best!

Anyone else here a fan of Jack?

I watched it when it aired originally, good show overall. Aku was a good villian, but seemed misinformed about his own weaknesses.

Well, he was clever enough to pull off the old "let's converse just long enough for me to open a time portal and fling you into it" trick. It's usually the bad guys who fall for that one.

Yes, of course you're right. I don't have the disc with that episode, so it didn't come to mind. Classic.

one thing though, i never saw the last few episodes. i cannot remember why, but i only have up to mid 30's (though i know i've seen more) which according to wiki is short of the 55 total.

jack made me want to watch clone wars even more. i dig Tartakovsky.

Well, all 4 seasons are available on DVD, so you could rent the last season and check them out. I'm not sure how many episodes I've seen, but I plan on picking up all 4 seasons over the next couple of weeks. They cost about $40 Canadian each (maybe less down where you are), so they're not that expensive.

Ironically, Tartakovsky's Clone Wars cartoons were what Lucas' films should have been. His style is so unique and can appeal to all age groups, a true feat. Heck, I even kind of like the Power Puff Girls.

Does that make me less of a man? Lol.

I loved the Clone Wars series. It really pissed me off that Grievous didn't fight in the movie as he did in the cartoon... or that Durge wasn't in the movie either.

Well, Grievous was injured in battle if you recall.

Awesome show, I used to catch it on cartoon network whenever it was on.

Yeah, I suppose Mace Windu force crushing Grievous' chest is a good enough excuse for Grievous to lose all four of his hands within ten seconds of battling Obi-Wan.

Hey mate, it's Samuel L. Jackson. Do not underestimate him.

It's not Samuel L. Jackson I underestimate. He is, in his own terms, one badass mother****er. Mace Windu, on the other hand, screams like those Japanese civilians in those classic Godzilla movies.

Good point. However, no amount of bad character writing can hide the pure awesome spontaneously releasing from SLJ. I'm pretty sure those arms were already hanging by the thread by the scene with Obi-Wan.

    ...

As to OT, I find the name "Aku" slightly funny as that is the first name of Donald Duck in Finnish.

    Re: Samurai Jack.

Did he ever get back to his own time? I saw the one where he found the way back, but he was not good enough to defeat the guardian. I remember that the guardian was merciful to Jack, and showed him a vision of the time when he would be able to pass. But then they had more episodes, and I eventually stopped watching.

I loved that show! Was definitely one of the top ones on CN, the episode that stands out is the basket warrior robot things, along with the epic wars...man that was cool!

I remember that the show was on Cartoon Network, and that I was in that intermitterary stage where i didn't like cartoons, but I might just brush off my pride and watch because of this.
