Sad or Sadly Funny?

A couple of Star Wars geeks took their drive to imitate the movies a wee bit too far:

Mark Webb, 20, and an unnamed 17-year-old girl are believed to have been filming the mock duel as they poured fuel into two glass tubes and lit it.

The pair were taken to hospital after one of the devices exploded in woodland at Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, on Sunday evening.

A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire Police told the UK's Press Association Tuesday that a third person present at the incident had been questioned.

A videotape was found nearby.

The spokeswoman told PA: "A 17-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead suffered serious injuries. They have been transferred to a specialist burns unit in Chelmsford, Essex, and are still critically ill in hospital.

"At this stage we are unable to confirm the exact circumstances, but glass tubes and traces of accelerant (flammable substance) were found at the scene."

The final film in the Star Wars series, Revenge Of The Sith, arrived at UK cinemas last week.

One of the crucial scenes features a lightsabre battle between Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker.

Yeah, strange stuff.

Chynobi already posted it on another OTF-Star Wars thread a couple of days ago..... title: Star Wars Episode III.

I stand by what I said then:

OK, before I start laughing about the stupidity of the idea, let me state that I in no way think it's funny that those people are hurt.

But...... damn, filling them up with petrol! Come on.....

How dumb can you be!
----------------------------------
It's terrible for the ones involved. But also very stupid....

David.

How is a burning glass tube anything near a lightsaber?
Right. If you want it to be as good as a real lightsaber you have to take a plastic tube and cover it in limegreen paint. Thats what a real lightsaber is.

I'm trying to find some defense for such idiocy, but I can't.
Oh wait...it would have looked cool if somehow it worked.

hmmm..... I didn't think it was possible to be that stupid. It is Rather sad that people are that fanaticle about something ficticious. I can't say it suprises me though, after all Jedi is the worlds fastest growing religion.

Every time you pretend to be a Jedi, god kills a Ewok.
If he only could kill two of those small spear-wielding teddybears for each time anyone pretends to be a Jedi, some episodes should be much better...
