Sac/Zealot+ defiant variant any good for hell?
I was wondering if this sounds like a decent setup or if there would be probs (esp on hell diff) with it.
20 Sacrifice
20 Holyshield
20 Defiance
16-20 Fantaticism (whatever you have left over)
3-5 points in Zeal (since its only +6% damage/point and AR% bonus doesn't mean much if you go with a weapon that has ignore target defense, correct?).
Possibly 1 point in Salvation (just for those times when you need extra resist when you are item poor)
You totally ignore the holyfire/holyshock/conviction tree with NO POINTS in any of them, and also no points in any defensive auras beyond defiance since you are really just wanting defiance for the synergy with holyshield.
Obviously I'm thinking that you could probably take 5 points from defiance and holyshield and stick them if zeal if you wanted to so that you'd have 9-13 (roughly) base and make up the rest with +skills, or you could stick them in other skills but since main attack is "zeal" /w Fanat I think it would make sense to max fanat and possibly sink some into smite for some stun action since it will help you out if you find yourself solo'ing a lot.
Defiance aura /w Holy shield having been cast usually only adds usually an extra 5%-10% less to hit when they have both been maxed this is just a FYI, since I tested Defiance aura + holy shield to see if it would give insane defense bonus if you used the defiance aura in combination with HS. The results say : defiance is pretty much useless for you to use in combat /W HS so the only benefit would probably for multiplayer games where there are a lot of melee characters while you sacrifice some damage not using fanat.
A maxed HS/DEF synergy definitely helps out with bosses (so far, at least in nightmare, every boss has a ***** of a time hitting you even with mid range items) most bosses have usually a 19-40% to hit you with decent armor and max or near max def/HS. If you are going it alone the bosses will usually have a hell of a time hitting you in nightmare at least. I haven't played much hell yet so I can't say if its worth it beyond normal and nightmare, any zealots want to comment? Obviously I'm thinking this type of pal is really item dependent. So far I've only tested this character offline in single player up through nightmare (completed).
