rushing?

im not asking for a rush, but i messed up skill placement on my .09 character, and my local friend who plays with me offered to rush me, but since people on the SPF dont condone some things, i was wondering if its considered acceptable to be rushed rather than playing through the game

What's the point of playing if you'd rather rush. I only go for mini-rushes, like I wanted to join WSK runs, and I didn't have any actv questing done, so I got the ancients wp, and then sp'd the ancients and rejoined the WSK game. I went back and did all the quests as soon as I quit the MP game.

In 1.09, twinked you can make it to Hell in about three days. Up to you really...like how messed up is this build 1 pt or 40 pts?

When you are being rushed you actually are kinda playing and you could do this legitamately on B-net. So I do not see any problem with it. I think that the Act5 cheat is considered cheating or not playing through but rushing does require some work and does require playing part of the game. I however, would not condone rushing all the way through the game and then boasting about a mat or a pat that you had someone rush for you, thats kinda cheap.

rushig is ok, although good players will frown apon it as no skill is needed to rush. as fafner said, rushing for a specific purpose (like mpeh or baal runs) is fine, but i wouldnt want to rush a whole difficulty just so i could do heell baal runs again. if your in the same act i dont see the problem, but skippig half the game to get somewhere isnt great. but we cant stop you.

well, the sorc was a FO nova sorc, and i put a point into thunderstorm like my old one on bnet, and then without paying attention, i accidently added 13 points to blizzard.. (the tabs switched for some reason and i didnt notice) .. while i was cowing with my friend (levels 63-76)

Well, rushing isn't any kind of cheating so feel free to do so

But rushing is one of those things I don't like...quite often when I join MP game to help someone it will result in as a rush. Many times it is almost like skipping whole act. I don't know why it is so annoying to do things as they were meant to do

I always collect all waypoints and do all quests (I don't take Halls of Pain wp on hell though) and I enjoy it much more than being rush-helped through the game. Maybe it is not necessary but does it matter? imo it is refreshing to play different areas sometimes instead of endless Pit/Meph/WSK/Pindle runs

What I expect from a MP game is relaxed gaming combined with some chatting, not a hellish rush

But of course everyone has their own style to play and they have a right to do so

I do not consider rushing cheating, but it really is shady. For me it is kind of like using hardcore items in softcore or using the map seed to restore a map. You may be able to do it in the game, but I know blizzard frowns upon it. That is why they have not made it easy anymore.

I have never rushed in Diablo and I want to continue not rushing. I feel one loses the appreciation for being low level and working to get your character. It makes you more familiar with your build and be able to appreciate all the things in normal and nightmare modes. Of course, this is a person who likes do all quest except for the countess and the horadric cube quest (nightmare and hell). :)

While I understand why you want to be rushed, given the 13 blown skill points, I still advise you don't do it. I'd do one of two things were I in your place:

1) Start over. On /p8, if you skip the side quests (Countess, rescuing barbarians in Act 5, Nihlathak) and optional areas (all of the caves in Act 1 except Den of Evil, the mini-crypt in Act 2, Swampy Pit and Arachnid Lair in Act 3, red portals and caves in Act 5), you can get to Act 5 Hell in a matter of days. It may get boring, but it beats letting someone else do all the work for you.

2) Learn to use your supposedly "screwed up" character. I've done things like this myself before and just soldiered on, finding surprising uses for the skills I accidentally placed points in. You might not be as specialized as you'd like, but versatile characters are, to me, more fun to play since having the right skill for the right situation cuts down on some a lot of the really maddeningly long, tough fights you run into when you're over-specialized. Although I've never played a sorc beyond Act 2 Normal, I've read a lot about them that I can see how those points in Blizzard will come in handy. FO moves pretty slowly, except for the Glacial Spikes (which themselves aren't all that fast), right? Use the Blizzard to slow down fast opponents before FO, ensuring more hits from the spikes, then switch to Nova. You'll be a little more versatile, and more importantly, not using the same two skills over and over, which I find to be incredibly boring.

You can do what you like, but I consider rushing to be exploiting a loophole in the game. It's not exactly cheating, but it's darn close. My $.02, at least.

well for fast monsters i use FO in the first place, its the best spammer there is, other than strijdje. generally, except cold imunes, everything in the genral direction of the orb will be chilled and damaged.
and yes, i agree that blizzard dont want you to rush through the game they lovingly created and so introduced features to prevent you from doing so. exploiting these features isnt cheating, but its not how the game was desinged to be played.

i don´t se any problems in rushing, it´s not cheating, it doesn´t affect items that you might trade with anyone etc etc....

if someone have a problem with you rushing then thats their problem....

here's how i see it. rushing uses no GAM's, requires you to do some of the work yourself and is doable on battlenet. go for it.

Rushing is a facet of the game that has gained acceptance over time (mostly on B.net), and there is no right or wrong answer with which to respond to that question. I can just say this: it feels a heck of a lot better when you pat or mat a character without being rushed. Nothing stops you, though, and I won't think any less of you if you did accept the rush.

Everyone has a unique opinion on this topic. Some consider it cheating, some think that if the option is available to players then it is completely legit. The debate could rage on forever, but that is for another place at another time.

Just know, whatever you decide to do simply be aware of the consequences.
