Runeword Stone advice

I need some opinions on making Stone. I plan on making it for my paladin and i have a 440 Defense armor I could use. Is that a good choice of armor for this runeword, or should I hold out for something better. And if so, what should I be looking for, in your opinion? :)

too low, get something with >500 def
if i recall, stone has no enhanced defence modifier, so whatever the base AC is, is what the AC will remain as. er..defense i guess i should call it. what will happen if your def is too low is that you won't care about all the skills Stone gives, cause you'll be dying all the time. especially with the pally.

another thing you might want to consider is the light-medium-heavy armor thing. i don't know if say, zeal gets slowed by heavier armor, but you'll run slower for sure the heavier your armor is. it's always tempting to use some heavy armor for the def, but to me, i've never been into the being slowed down thing.

when i played on bnet, i had a 4 sock dusk shroud with 13% ed on it. I used it for stone on my assassin, and it worked out alright. i'd still get whomped if there were a lot of people in the game but thats what death sentry is for.

You're thinking of Lionheart I think.

Stone has a very nice Enhanced Defense Rating.

Stone does indeed have ED, the highest ed you can get from an item actually.

+60% Faster Hit Recovery
+250-290% Enhanced Defense (varies)
+300 Defense Vs. Missile
+16 To Strength
+16 To Vitality
+10 To Energy
All Resistances +15
Level 16 Molten Boulder (80 Charges)
Level 16 Clay Golem (16 Charges)

I too would wait for a higher ED armor, a good Archon will be at least 500+ def and won't slow you down as a light armor.

EDIT: Lol, I think the point was made... :D

archon plates and dusk shrouds easily get over 500 def and are fairly common. I would use one of those.

heh, somebody play eq?

yeah i think you should wait aswell, there are better armors out there and you will be happier with the result if you wait.

AC is DnD in origin. Armor Class ;)

Most RPG's seem to use AC instead of def, dont know why. D2 is the greatest game ever, so surely they would all want to copy it, not some crappy DnD game.

Well, I think for old crpgs they usually named it "AC" if it was a lower the better skill (like in DnD based games such as Eye of the Beholder and a thousand others) and "defense" if it was a higher the better thing (~Diablo). Though i dont think that is the case anymore.
