runeword help

Howdy

ive been back on diablo 2 for about 2 or 3 weeks after a long few year break and have not done so badly, i was lucky enough to find a vex rune and have decided to make a heart of the oak runeword but back when i used to play i never bothered with runes. so will this flail be sufficient for what i want to make ?

flail
one-hand damage 1 to 24
durability 21 of 30
required dexterity 35
required strength 41
mace class - very fast attack speed
50% damage to undead
socketed (4)

Congrats on your find. That flail should work just fine. Be careful to add the runes in the right order.

thanks i just thought i'd get confirmation before i waste what is probably the best i will ever find. Ko + Vex + Pul + Thul i take it that that is the right order

You would recommend making a HOTO from a flail? Wouldn't you want to wait and put it in a Knout or higher? I guess my real question is - when do you jump in and make the runeword? I'm a rune noob, btw.

jamex, since Hoto is really only used by casters and never swung as a melee weapon, flail is actually the most popular choice since it's common and has the lowest strength requirement. In many cases of melee weapons, you're right in that you'd want to wait for elite weapons to get that better damage.
