Runeword Armor Question

I notice a lot of people wanting Dusk Shroud or Archon Plate to make their runeword armor. I was wondering why person dont use Sacred armor. More max defense and only a 5% slower run walk. could anyone help me with this?

I'm aware of the strength requirements are a lot higher but i see a lot of barbs using dusk shroud and archon plate when they usually need a lot of strength for other equipment.

Its all about the str requirement, a sacred armor usually need 232 str.
Archon playe need 100 str and have almost same defense.

So saving around 132 stats points for your vitality is a great thing.

Its not the fact that people wouldnt use enigma sacred armors but its because sacred armors are so hard to find. And a 3 socket sacred armor is even harder. And also another reason would be that the enigmas arent usually ment for barbarian users. They are more targeted towards spellcasters for the +2 to skills and the fact that they can teleport.

For PvP, even Barbs need to reserve stat points into other things than strength, like vitality. A low-strength and high-def armor like an Archon Plate, helps with this.

Besides the huge strength requirement, it's also a medium armor, like you said. It takes away 5% run/walk speed and has a 5% extra burden on stamina. Keep in mind that the speed it takes away is not the same as you may see on equipment, such as small charms of inertia (5%FRW). It's calculated differently and is greater, like skill FRW. For melee characters, run/walk speed may be very important to get to their targets or to run away from attacking monsters/players.

well considering u need around 150 strength or so to use botd and arreats gives 20 to strength and steelrend with 15-20 strength or draculs with 10-15 and 30 from stormshield u will have at 210-220 strength. whats 10 more strength for a sacred armor enigma or stone?

Arreat's requires 118 str to equip. It gives 20, so now you have 138, just enough for a BotD zerker, which gives 30 more. Now you have 168, which is enough for an SS, which grants 30 more. So now you have 198, which is enough for Steelrends, which give 15 at the minimum. 113 str now, plus a low 10 stat anni, for 123 total. Give that a few str points from ammy/rings or normal stat points, and you'll have enough.

However, having so much equipment relying on other equipment is dangerous and/or very inconvenient in pvp sometimes, because when you get killed, you may not have the strength to equip all your items quickly. You may have to run back and forth between your body and your stash, since your inventory will be almost full with charms. Consider if there's a player naked-killing everyone there. If you leave the game, you loose whatever items you may have on one of your bodies.

Also, some (like me) might see it as a waste even putting the ** points into str that Arreat's requires. If I'm using an enigma, I know that it has a lot of strength, and I want to put that to use for other equipment. If you need all your other equipment just to equip the enigma, all that strength it has, has gone to waste. Yes, str does give damage, but some may find it too insignificant to sacrifice vitality for it.

If I'm using an Archon enigma, I only need 73 str points to equip it, without an anni. Then, I have a ton of strength at my disposal, for other equipment.

All that said, some people do use Sacred Armors for enigmas, but there are several reasons besides str on a barb that you don't see that many around. First being, it doesn't hold as much trade value as a low-str armor like an Archon, since it can mostly be used by a barb. It's also a medium armor, somewhat harder to find, and looks a lot worse both in the inventory and on the player, imo.
