Runes

I have a question about Rare Runes (23 up to 33).
From Mal to Zod.
I need to know which place/monster have the highest chance to drop those Runes.
I guess that up to Ist my best choice (high chance and pretty much easy) is The Countess.
But I dunno where to get the other runes...

I THINK that High Council (not only the minions) have "high chance" to drop those runes but I'm not sure about it..

For MAL and GUL, the best bet is hellforge.

I *think* the Countess' special runedrop goes up to IST; above that she drops like any other monster, up to LO. Or something like that.

In general, it doesn't really matter where you go. Go anyplace with high level monsters where you can kill a lot of monsters quickly.

You can also combine this with more useful stuff --- like clearing out Durance, Chaos Sanctuary and Worldstone Keep instead of teleporting. That way, you get the monsters for rune (and other items) chances, and the act boss at the end is always a nice bonus.

then i believe hi mlvl places are best, after council

The most rune-profitable runs are:
Lower Kurast runs - lot of chests (amulets, jewels, charms and runes drop quite frequently from chests), drops up to Ber IIRC
Cow level - cows have slightly higher chance to drop runes than normal monsters and there is a lot of them there. With the right cow-killer build, you might be lucky. Drops up to Zod
Stranglers and ghosts types have around 4x better chance to drop runes. I think clearing Chaos sanctuary (alvl85) , where stranglers are present, could be good. Drops up to Zod
Arcane sanctuary - there are ghosts (but you should kill them on the ground) and lot of special chests and Summoner. (Don't know from my mind, but drops something up to Lo?)
Hellforge rushing and cubing.

I personally run normal lvl85 areas (WSK and Pit) and hope for a lucky drop.

The chest is Arcane can only drop up to Lo, but the monster can drop up to Cham IIRC

Haven't I seen somewhere where someone posted a table of the probabilities that a certain monster would drop a certain rune? It might have been in the Strategy Compendium.
