    Rune question

The hellforge in hell mode, does it have the chance to drop any rune? i hear if you repair the mallet before you break it the chance of a higher rune goes up. Is this an unsubstanciated rumor? or is it true? also whats the highest rune you've personally ever gotten from the hellforge in hell mode?

The highest rune Hell hellforge can drop is Gul. Period. And yes, that is an unsubstantiated rumor about the repairing (afaik).

it has an equal chance of dropping each rune. Gul is the highest. I forgot which one was the lowest. You can try searching to the forums to find out.

yes, gul is highest rune, and i got gul on my first hellforge :D i dont really believe all of those rumors of repairing the hammer, being high lvl. but there is one that i am not sure about....do you get better drops if there is 8 ppl in the game, vs. there being only you?

I'm 100% sure I saw someone getting a ber rune from HF, it was on the ground just when I walked to the forge after someone had hit it (and the person took it, of course).
There were 8 players in the game.
Of course I got the quest done too and left without any goodness, this happened when I was still quite new to the game some time last year.

And that hammer repairing thing sounds too silly to be true.

it must have been from one of the monsters then, or someone dropped it on purpose (who knows what people will do with all those duped HRs). The hell forge cannot drop anything above a Gul, period.

No, mf, number of people in the game, etc. do not matter. It's all random.

repairing the hammer does do something actually...

i repaired the hammer when a guy rushed me to norm forge
and he was the one who told me to do it
and he sed you would get more gems

    i hit the forge
    and instead of 1 pgem
    there was 2!!! :)

repairing the forge does nothing. Most likely, a monster dropped that extra pgem.

    Repairing the hammer does nothing.

If you do the HF quest in an 8 player game where no one has the quest you will all complete it but there will still only be the one rune drop.

The amount of p gems that drop from the forge is affected by the amount of players in the game who benefit from the quest. Most likley, in yelopen's case, the rusher had not completed the hellforge quest on normal (there's no reason to, except for the gems).

I remember getting 3 pgems from a forge, in a game where 3 of us needed the quest (on normal difficulty, of course, otherwise it would be a waste).

That might be because they can't.

I'm pretty sure monsters can drop pgems.

O yea, I forgot about that. Pgems vary wit the number of people in the game but runes do not.

I don't think they can. The most a monster can drop is up to a flawless. ATMA seems to support this, but then again, ATMA seems to indicate that no monster can drop a pgem, though I do believe Act bosses at least are capabable of it (and the countess?), so I'm not sure what the story is there.

The only two ways to get a pgem (besides by trading) is by a hellforge drop or cubing one from lower gems. No monster has any chance of dropping one.

In the treasureclassex.txt file there is a TC named Perfect Gem with all PGems.
The only problem is that there's no link to this TC from any above TC's, so it can never be picked.
Flawless Gem TC is, on the contrary, included in many TC's, that's why they do drop sometimes.
