    Rolling Jewels

As far as rerolling jewels, do the same effects apply as far charms? Is it best to reroll jewels dropped from Baal and Nithalak? Or where is the best place to get jewels to reroll for 40/15 ias or max/min dam?

If we are talking about magical jewels (not rare, not facets) you can roll them using 3 pgems and cube - as any other magical items. They should keep their ilvl.

You want get 40/15 what means a PERFECT "Ruby jewel of Fervor"
    If you look at
    http://www.diabloii.net/items/modifiers/x-jewels.shtml#w-ias
You can see that prefix "Ruby" is Qlvl 66 and suffix "of Fervor" is Qlvl 39.
Becouse 66>39, Qlvl of "Ruby jewel of Fervor" is 66.
In this case ilvl = Qlvl, so ilvl of the jewel you are looking for is 66.

It can be cubed from other jewels with ilvl >=66

    If you look at
    http://www.rpgforums.net/showthread.php?t=137779
and find a list of area lvls in RTB´s post, you can see that first lvl 66 areas are: NM Baal Temple 3, Throne Room and World Stone. It means that monsters you meet in these areas are mlvl 66 (regular monsters) or higher (bosses). All items droped of these monsters are ilvl 66. (even scrapy ones)

It means that every scrapy juwel dropped of them can be cubed to 40/15

It is though as likely as that you find this jewel - not VERY likely.

So is it worth trying to find/trade for a 40/15 max/min or 40/15 ias jewel? Or would it be worth just putting my ~35%ED jewels in my helm/weapon/shield?

Also, as far as the ED modifier goes...when u socket an ED jewel in a weapon or other equipment does it enhance your overall damage or just the weapon's damage?

I'd just go ahead and use the 35% jewel or whatever.. you can always unsocket stuff w/ a hel rune and town portal. My whole griz set has bunch of 30%ish jewels and probably will until I can get ahold of good replacement jewels. As for the jewels in gear. XX% in a weapon adds to the weapons dmg. I think that XX% dmg jewels adds to the weapons base dmg. So if you had like a 100 dmg crystal sword, a XX% dmg jewel in ur armor will only add XX% to the 15 base dmg of the crystal sword? Hope this helps.

Great. Thanks for the reply. It's hard to get replies a lot of times when I don't have much of a history here on the board. Hoping to build up my post count slowly but surely.

I don´t think it depends on your history here. Just ask your questions :)
Anyway - I noticed that I expressed myself unprecisely in my post. When I wrote
"In this case ilvl = Qlvl, so ilvl of the jewel you are looking for is 66".
    It should be:
Ilvl must be >=66 to have Qlvl66
Sorry for this missleading detail. General conclussions should be right anyway.

What's the big deal with ias jewels? I have liek 3 15ias jewels and tons more lying around collecting dust. If your weapon has very fast attack speed...is it really possible with ias that it can go 'faster'?

Btw, someone hit me up on USWest ladder, I really dont see a need to keep them.

Look for IAS break points. It can really matter - especially for zoons. I would never invest my p gems in this rolling though. Most of people roll NM A3 GCs and it´s right.

    Why NM A3 GCs?

It's your best chance for skill GCs (from what I have read here)
