Rolling Greys

Good newb question, Can I have a "grey w/os" object imdued with magic in the 1st act quest reward from armorer? I can't remember her name. If so will the object still be rune word capable.

Charsi (is her name) will only imbue white items.
Those items can, however, be class specifics and/or superior

Thank-You, I thought that but I keep reading about rolling items to get good mods for items. Maybe their refering to a mod at spawning, that is on greys from time to time. I'll see if i can find the tread. I should have asked what was meant by the phrase in the tread but though it wouldn't fit there.

Are you referring to the re-rolling of magical (blue) items?
3 Perfect Gems (any type) + 1 Magical Item/Charm (must be blue)
= 1 Random Magical Item of same iLvL.

The level of any item is determined by what type of monster drops it (and subsequently in which area)

Mostly pepole re-roll Grand Charms of the highest iLvL (droppped by Hell-Baal, H-Diablo & H-Nihlathak) so try to get skiller GCs with high +Life 2nd mods (those trade very well)

charsi will only imbune white items (no blue/green/yellow/gold or rings/amulets/jewels/runes)
she will most likely turn them into rare(yellow) items with many prefix/suffixes(max of 3 each)

from http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/quests/rewards.shtml
Act I: Quest 5: ImbueImbue creates a new rare item out of the base item you want to Imbue. The stats of the base item do not matter as it is only used to determine what type of rare item will result from using Imbue. Also, the quality of the item used (Superior, Normal, Damaged, etc.) does not affect the new item. So don't waste your time looking for a Superior Item or for specific Defense because it doesn't matter. Any properties of the old item are lost when the new rare item is created. Your character level determines what magical properties your new rare item can have, so characters with higher levels have more, but not always better, options available. Consult the Magic Prefix and Suffix pages for a listing of Magical Bonuses and levels. Since the magical properties on the item created is random, you might not always receive a 'good item' from Imbue.

It's often best to save your Imbue and use it on an Exceptional or Elite Item.
i save the quests and use them on sup/damaged circlets, coronets, tiaras and diadems hoping for high +skills mods
http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/circlets.shtml

runewords can only be made from white (they can be superior) os items with the proper number of sockets and of the proper item type for the runeword
after charsi imbunes an item it will no longer be runeword capable
