Rocky Balboa ???????? What the ... #@^!*&*)

I went to see Casino Royal today -- pretty darn good Bond movie -- the best one I think since the Roger Moore days.

Anyway I saw a trailer on "Rocky Balboa". Looks like Silvester Stallone is trying to make a come back. Don't get me wrong I think he's made some really great action movies, Rocky 1, among them. But Jesus Chhrriisst ... Rocky Balboa???????????????? It's just too bad he didn't get Chuck Norris to be in the movie. They could have done tag team wrestling or something, maybe even MMA. But Rocky Balboa? I don't know. Some Hollywood stars are getting desperate to make an extra buck. Maybe they should invest in mutual funds or something.

Here's a better idea for Stallone: instead of trying to relive his Rocky days, he should have rather become the coach in the movie instead of being the boxer himself.

well, as much as I don't want to see it...

it is boxing, and guys come out of retirement like crazy, and have boxed into their late 40s early 50s, so it isn't entirely ridiculous, it's just... why would I want to see it?

Agree 100%. Those were actually pretty close to my exact words when I first saw a preview for the movie.

Or he could just...not make another movie...
Does he actually need money, or is he just bored as hell?

Maybe he should take up foruming (<---new verb). It burns all my free time as it is...

Funny story I just remembered that may or may not be true. I was talking with one of my old bosses, and the Rocky movies came up. Apparently, in the movie Judge Dread his character was supposed to die. When they got to the point where he did die, Stalone couldn't grasp that the character wasn't Rockey. He kept saying, "But Rockey can't die..." whenever they tried to explain to him that he wasn't playing the Rockey role.

If it's true, they basically got fed up with trying to convince him that they weren't killing off Rockey and just re-wrote the ending.

I find it hard to believe, and I'm actually more willing to believe I was just a gullible kid at the time, but funny as heck if it really happened.

I saw the original Rocky, it was pretty good. Didn't bother with the sequels though.

Give it up, very few movies survive beyond a second iteration, let alone a fifth.

IMDB said:
Rambo IV: In the Serpent's Eye

Synopsis: Vietnam vet John Rambo is forced to emerge from his reclusive lifestyle and take justice into his own hands after his daughter gets kidnapped.
Ripping off vintage Arnie doesn't seem like the best approach.

Stallone is a pretty smart guy all in all. He knows this won't be a blockbuster. It's not about money at this point. Was it ever really?

I'll go see it at some point. Stallone knows what he is doing.

I just saw this linked.

"You need to have the expertise and the guidance of someone else. You cannot train yourself," he said. "I feel the same way about Christianity and about what the church is: The church is the gym of the soul."
