Sorry to hear about the losses, Jrlafrance and Atil, hopefully the part below consitutes some avenging.

King_Lear traveled on in act II, and his first serious trouble turned out to be a combination of three bosspacks in the Palace Cellars level 1, where he had to retreat to raise an army somewhere else, to beat the bosspacks, but to lose Aliza in the process, her second death so far apart from dying against Diablo in round 1. The next serious danger were the lightning spires in the Arcane Sanctuary. Luckily he had loads of hitpoints and max lightning resistance or he might not have lived to tell the tale.

So a serious warning to all those going to the Arcane Sanctuary, these are essentially pre-gloam gloams. They're not bugged afaik, but their piercing lightning attack is dangerous, their nova attack less so, but they tend to use that one more, and it's not very safe up close. I don't know whether I entered that wing in normal, but in nightmare they hurt seriously, I lost about 300 hitpoints to them while trying to avoid them, but tankless people should worry even more about lightning resistance and hitpoints, even though they'll probably take them down faster, being the main target is going to hurt.

Nevertheless, King_Lear survived to level in Tal Rasha's tomb. Shortly afterwards he found an orifice to put his Horadric Staff in. After switching back to players 1 (which had been used in the Maggot Lair and the Arcane Sanctuary as well), it was on to face Duriel. The fight turned out to be rather slow and safe, without any need to reraise an army or even recast the golem. The skellies didn't seem to do much damage, but fire, cold, magic and poison damage did show their impact. With about three skellies and mana potions left, Duriel was defeated and King_Lear found the impatient Tyrael.

So on to the points:

49 scoring waypoints: 49
For a total of 140 points of which 68 in round 2

Hopefully I'll manage to get some more playtime in before the end of the round, but I do have an exam on tuesday.

Bantam has progressed from Travincal to the River of Flame WP and is waiting there for his death. I can't see a way to beat Diablo, so I didn't want to play on yet. The deadline is threatening, so I'll give it a try tomorrow. :)

You can try to poison him, I don't know what skills you use, but a pally with vigor can be very fast, and use a hit and run tactic, preferably you use a bow with loads of tal runes or perfect emeralds, shoot and run and come back for more. Is this normal or nightmare btw? One could ethically oppose this tactic for a pally, but with combat skills already out, you cannot be the typical pally anyway.

Got nearly everything in HF and Resist Cold...a few into blessed aim if I remember correctly. I'm using a bow with emeralds (might be a saphire in there as well) and thinking about doing some gambling at Alkor before going on.
Oh, it's normal still. Normal gameplay goes fine, only had trouble with Abyss Knights in A4. The problem is just that Diablo will kill the merc in one hit and I have no other minions to distract him. :(

One point in vigor might go a long way if you've got some +skills, with deminishing returns the first point is most important anyway. You're using an act II merc I presume, with you on bow. I think he should be able to survive a few hits, maybe even two elemental attacks, and you can get some hits in in that time. When he dies, run away, and townportal to resurrect the merc (don't spend everything on gambling), and repeat, eventually you should be able to take Diablo down, although you might have to leave the battle for a while in the middle to level to heal (I had to). The holy freeze might have the same effect as vigor, instead of speeding you up, slowing Diablo down and doing some damage in the process, so hit and run should be possible, and you should be able to dodge his lightning attack, the ring of fire is another matter, if you can, have maxed fire resist, but you knew that already.
If you're lucky, Diablo will choose to use his melee attack (or melee cold attack) more than his lightning and fire attacks, and the merc might be able to survive them for a while.

If, contrary to my expectations, you're using a rogue, you might be able to get Diablo AI-locked, with you on one side and the merc on the other side, and him not able to decide whom to attack so not attacking anyone. This does however rarely happen, to rarely to count on it.

Good luck, you'll need it.

And just to be sure, don't even think about using any players setting higher than 1, and that goes for the whole Chaos Sanctuary.

Sigon's shield, Lore helm, +1 amulet. You'll be able to get an Sol by the time you get to act 3 (you'd be lucky.. but still), getting sigon's shield is very possible and if you collect every blue ring and amulet you can easily cube them into ones with +1.

Actually, I was a bit optimistic there, since Bantam was using a bow, with weapon and shield it would be easier for a pally (something like the wand I bought, but then on a scepter). Getting the sol does require a bit of luck (I'm still waiting for the slightly, but not much, rarer shael), and the same goes for finding a two socket helm afterwards, I had the sol rune in my stash for a couple of acts before again finding a two socket helm (I think I found the rune at act III, IV or V normal, and only somewhere in act II nightmare I found a two socket helm again, I remember selling a two socket helm somewhere halfway act III normal and not long thereafter finding a sol rune). With cubing, the +skills on an amulet shouldn't be too hard to find, especially when not demanding + to all skills, but having the choice of +1 to +2 (at that level) to a skilltree or +1 to all skills. Still, regardless of build, resistances and damage reduction are more important in this tourney than + to skills. If you've got those all settled, + to skills is certainly not the worst mod to have.

Ah well. The question if Bantam can kill Diablo will be unanswered forever. I went to level after clearing out the Chaos Sanctuary and promptly ran into a health shrine at the start of the River of Flame.
I'm pretty frustrated right now and will give up on this turney. It's no fun to "die" that way.
So, I'm out. Score is unimportant (too low anyway).
It has been fun though, an interesting challenge!

I did manage to squeeze some playing time in since I really wasn't in the mood for studying (which bodes very bad for my exam tomorrow), and managed to equal my score from the previous round by gaining one level and finding the nightmare Spider Forest, Great March, and Flayer Jungle waypoints. At first the gloams in the Great Marsh didn't seem to dangerous, but when they started appearing in greater numbers I did switch back to players 1 in the hope of getting the hell out and then levelling in the Flayer Jungle. The latter didn't happen yet, but I do feel less toasted. If anyone else is out to get to the nightmare Great March, watch out for gloams, they do hurt a lot.

King_Lear's current status:

seven act bosses

total: 144 points of which 72 in round 2 and 72 in round 1.

If I do continue a bit further, the results will probably only be posted tomorrow, not around the end of the round.

I know the website has been having issues the last couple of days, but I'm more than a little disappointed at the lack of response in this thread. I'm anxious to get on with Round 3! Post updates people!!

Omg this took some time to construct, since the site is slower than snow falling on the moon.

Rule #3 - You may not use townportals !
Exceptions:
Townportals created by shrines are allowed.
Townportals created by end-of-level-monsters are allowed.
If you're still lvl 1 you'll need to sell your townportals immediately.

The only way to get to town from now on are waypoints, end-of-level-tp's, tp shrines or by running back through the map. Should you accidentally make and take a townportal you are considered dead in round 3.
