RibCracker fury question

I want to know if it's better getting an Eth RibCracker and Zod it, or get a standard Up'd RibCracker with a 15 IAS/40% ED jewel in it? I ask this cauz i just found à 15/40 jewel and i want to be sure that my 273%ED UP'D RibCracker worths it.

Thanks for ur answers!

273% ed is too low to put that jewel in in my opinion. At least get yourself a perfect/near perfect one. Those jewels are worth a lot (i am talking 3+hr on the realm i play), so you might consider trading it away.

iirc, a shaeled/ias-ed non-eth ribby does more dmg over time.. i'm not sure tho=P

nonetheless, it's cheaper and doesn't require a hr=)

Yeah, statistically the non-eth Ribby with the jewel or Shael does more damage over time than the eth-Zod one. It's all about that extra Fury attack speed frame.

Especially so if you start adding +max damage charms, where the faster non-eth one will get even better still.

Acctually I am kinda sure that it is the eth Ribby that is better over time (why would anyone otherwise spend a Zod instead of a Shael???)

And no, a IAS jewel is enough, acctually you just need 2 IAS on the weapon, but IAS doesn't come in that small portions.

so why bother with a simple shael, when you can put in a 15ias jwl with second mods? anything from res to dmg will work...

Because a jewel with a good second mod (res/dmg/whatever) will cost more than a "simple Shael". Trust me on this... Or trust the Dangoon calculator. In fact, according to the calculator you can reach the same breakpoint by getting 25 off weapon IAS.

As I recall it eth zodded is superior (not counting CB, which will be applied less) with bear attacks but inferior on a fury. I can check tomorrow.

well the eth zodded ribby will have a higher base dmg, but the shael'd up'd non-eth ribby will be faster, and will lead to more dmg with more hits and cb bein applied more

Think about it this way...5 frame vs. 6 frame = 20% more attacks. However, eth = 50% more damage (not counting the weapon's +damage or damage charms).

If you aren't stacked with damage charms the eth Ribby easily does more damage over time. However, CB closes the gap quite a bit. The exact impact is nearly impossible to calculate and varies based on the monster's HP.

If you are stacked with damage charms, then the non-eth can beat it.
The non-eth with a 40/15% jewel is easily the best for overall play, though the eth Ribby can still power ahead in some cases.

I remember that somebody did all the math that if you have no off weapon ed or +dmg, in damage over time:

Ribby 15/40 > Eth Ribby Zod > Ribby Shael.

Wow this is like Deja-vu I was looking over SSOG's Posts last night, There is a table by the MadScientist showing test results - Upped with RJoF wins - Eth/zod was Second. But for the price to make a non-upped with a sheal rune is very close and a much better deal.
http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=587468 for the same dang question (your search button - learn to love it)

and here for the Table FTW

Case Closed (even shows how it beats down tombreaver and everything else).
One of the really surprising things in the table to me was how much CB ends up mattering, look how High up the list Bonesnap is and you can equip it a long time before anything else.
Edit opps thats in the full version of the Table - don't have the linky but I saw it just a ways down in the scrolling version (Use the Search Luke)

Tables or no tables, assuming you are playing hardcore, the absolutely last place you will want to put a Zod, if you have one, is in a Ribcracker, because the weapon works just fine, in hell, non-upg, non-socketed.

Save that Zod for BotD.
