Respec system - how does it work?

How exactly does the respec work?

From what i can gather, you get 3 respec opportunities, one for each den of evil quest completed in the different skill levels.

Then what? I read that you can get a token to transmute to make a new respec item - is that just LOD or is it not true?

Basically ive got a paladin ive tried various respecs on and after 3 im still not happy - is there another way to respec now or is that my lot ?

Im after a good build for paladin too - i want a fighter - one that thanks to removal of IM in hell CS, can hold his own. Is it possible to make a warrior paladin? Ive never seen one!

I've only respecced once, so from what I can gather, you can only respecc a total of 3 times. After that, good luck (I THINK).

Don't know about the token, but you can reroll rares (that fit in cube) using 6 perfect skulls in the cube, but don't know about a 'token' that respeccs your char..

Try a zealer. Check out some of the guides in the stickys.

You can respec once in each difficult with Akara after the den quest. There is also 4 essences that can be combined into a token of absolution. The token of absolution can be used to respec. The essences are each droped by a different act boss (andariel and duriel drop the same one).

One of the essences is dropped by Baal though, so the token is expansion only.

I'm actually curious, can the essences drop in Classic?

I know this is an old thread, if Necromancy is frowned upon I apologize in advance.

How, exactly, does this process work? Every game handles this differently i.e. sometimes you have a window with a pool of stat points that are assigned any way you want, sometimes you go through it level by level, etc.

Can somebody give me an idea of what to expect when I try this? All I know so far is that Akara has the option to respect and I have been too cowardly to select it. :whistling:

Your char will be reset to the original lvl 1 stats for its class. But it will have all of the stat and skill points available for it's level. I'ts like a char that has been rushed to lvl 80 for exemple and hadn't invested any skill or stat points...
It appears that in Classic you Akara is the only way possible of respeccing

Ick, that sounds like a recipe for lots of mistakes. I better plan out every single point allocation then.

    Thanks
