rerolling Magic Item

Quick Re-rolling question:

I have a nothing special diadem that Pindle dropped. Can I re-roll this in the cube with the 3 pgems and magic item formula and attempt to get a Mavina Diadem or better still a Griffon? Or is that all just wishful thinking...

Exactly - thats my question - is there any instances when rerolling a charm it can become a gheeds. If that's the case for charms it can be the case for items.

It sure could - that's the point of my question. I want the parameters defined as to the extent a reroll makes only another magic item, or you (like gambling) can still get a unique (even if its just a small chance)

Rolling magic items will only change the mods on that item. It can't ever change the type (meaning magic to rare or unique).

Just pointing out the blooded parts...
"mods" in this context are normally referred to as "affixes" and "type" in this context are normally referred to as "item quality".

Also, the roll cannot spawn affixes that are higher than the items level (ilvl), so you cannot get +2 class skills on amulets found from montsters, with the exception of nilly, baaly, and big D.
