rerolling magic item question

rerolling magic item question

I read on blizzard site that ilvl=ilvl when the mods are rerolled. Can anyone clarify what that means? Is it the lvl requirement on the item? or the difficulty of where u get the item froM? or ur character lvl?

ilvl = the level of the monster that dropped the item. This has a large effect on what mods you can get on the item.

For example, if you have a jewel found in the Blood Moor, Normal (ilvl 1) and one found in the Worldstone Keep, Hell (ilvl 85), no matter how many times you reroll the Blood Moor jewel it will only ever get low-end mods. The WSK jewel, however, has a chance at good mods because of its higher ilvl.

It is not the character level required, though, so don't let that fool you (high-ilvl items can spawn with low clvl requirements).
 
Then does this imply that a charm from WSK hell mode can only roll high mods? or it just means that it can roll high mods, but has a chance of rolling low ones too?

It can roll high mods but it can also roll low mods. Since there are usually more low/undesirable mods than high/desirable mods, it may take some time to see good results from rerolling.

It is true high charms/jewels/etc can roll any mods from the lowest to the highest posible. **Gotta hate finding +1 damage charms in world Hell.**

So it is best to find the minimum level necessary forthe mod you want (suchas Level 50 for skills GCs) and then findthe minimum monster who can drop that kind of itmes(Travencial council NM in the case of GCs) to maximize the percentage of getting what you wnat. For example, overall, it is a far beter idea to cube grand charms from the NM council than GCs from Hell Ball if you wand skills.

Onthe other hand, if you want high elemental damge or skills, go for those Hell Ball charms.

It´s generally correct. Most effective is Flyer Jungle, Great Marsh and Spindel/Arhanid caves in Spider Forest. High Council works as well - of course ;)
