Disclaimer: Ok, sorry if this is an oft-repeated topic in the HC forums. I tried looking for a thread like this and couldn't find one. *hides* Please don't kill me!
Anyway, moving along. I haven't been playing HC for very long, and I don't play it that often. This is mostly due to the fact that I can't seem to make a character live very long (my highest was level 23, I think). I'd like to say that I'm just too reckless, or bold, or somesuch. But, as it turns out, I'm just too stupid. And I'll give my best example here:
I was just starting out HC with my roommate, so we were playing untwinked. Frustrated at not being able to find any good equipment, I decided to start playing around with % chance to cast level 3 charged bolt when struck. I collected as much equipment as I could with 10% on it, and wore it all, thinking that the extra lit damage would help a bit. I was level 15 or so and wandering through act 1 (Barracks, I think). I got up to around 80% chance to cast.
Then I ran into a pack of unique monsters. I don't know who made the first attack, the unique monster or me, but it turns out it was LE. You can sort of see where this is going...if you can't, I'll draw it out for you. Minion hits me, I cast level 3 charged bolt. Level 3 charged bolt hits LE monster, monster retaliates. Lightning hits me, I cast level 3 charged bolt...rinse, repeat, deeds.
Needless to say, the monster won that little stand off, with me downing minor healing pots and trying to run like a little girl. The worst part is, it wasn't even a respectable monster type. I think it was a Dark One (or whatever Fallen-type spawns in the barracks).
Anyway, in celebration of stupidity and dying, I thought I'd start a Darwin Awards type thread. So tell the story of the most embarassing, and dumbest, way you've gotten yourself to the deeds screen. =)
