Recommendation for a first job?
I just investigated several employment opportunities in my area after deciding I needed to rake in some $$. I'm only 16, so I obviously won't be rolling in Benjamins, but nonetheless I need a steady supply of cash as an active highschool student. However, my initial attempts at securing employment have thus far been unsuccessful.
My first try: Staples
Policy (conveniently one just implemented): Will only hire people 18 and above.
Preference: It's right by my house !!
Second try: Kohls
Policy : People 17 and over -.-.
Preference: Also right by my house!!
Third try: Party City
Policy: Fill out an application and they'll get back to you... ><
Preference: Seems like an easy job, but I don't think they'll be getting back to me anytime soon.
I hesitate to just go to a fast food restaurant and just toil in hard work for hours just for low pay, but all the big name places seem to only employ legal adults (though I'm probably more capable than the lot of these working stiffs at Toys R' Us). Anyone have some suggestions as to how to get an easy, good-paying job? Should I go for a family owned business? A large chain? It is my first job so some help would be appreciated.
