Recommend a build

Greetings!

I recently got back into D2 so I am no longer familiar with what is good and I also don't have any equipment, so I would need a non-twinked build.
I have several characters already, but am looking for one or two more to keep things interesting.

What I have so far is
Druid summoner L50
MF blizzard sorc L50
Strafe/Cold zon L9
CS spearazon (L1)
and a failed skel mage/DV necro :)

I mostly play solo and am looking for something that can eventually go through hell OK. Just PvM.

I tend to prefer summoning or area attack types. I don't want an assassin or summoning necro, or a Barb who only hits 1 monster at a time. I have looked through the build pages, but nothing really caught my eye.

I would not mind a paladin or non-summoning druid as I've never taken one of those very far. "Fast" kill speed doesn't matter to me 1 bit. Not dying is what I tend to prefer lol. And the ability to kill those immune monsters in hell.

Thanks!

Ive never played many classes. But for barbarian, all of IK stuff, Metalgrid, Ravenfrost, and Bul-Kathos'.

For a sorceress, maybe all of Tal-Rasha's along with Metalgrid, and the two rings above, along with loads of Rainbow Facets.

Thanks. I am not looking for equipment lists. I am looking for a build. The skills/stats :)

Oh... (opens eyes more). I would recommend for sorceress (cold, 115 stats total), 20 to Cold mastery, 20 to Frost nova, 1 to Frozen Armor, 20 to shiver armor, 1 to Telekinesses, 5 to teleport, 20 to energy shield, 20 to warmth. This would be for a cold only though, cutting some spells for other elements and using leftover stats when you run into the immune monsters might be smarter. Like fire wall and nova/chain lightning.

As for stats, (around 505 total), 250 to energy, 75 to strength, 75 to dexterity, 105 to vitality.

My MF sorc is cold, so i'm not really looking for another cold sorc :)
Yeah, but if you want fire or lightning just swap those skills to fire mastery/fire wall or chain lightning/nova + lightining mastery. But i'm done with suggestions for now, I haven't had much sorcresess experience and I'm probably annoying you.

haha. It's alright. Thanks. I love sorcs, it's just that when they focus on 1 element, they kind of have trouble against monsters who are immune to that. And splitting the skills makes them weaker and also doesn't guarantee that won't run up against a monster who is immune to both of the elements.
But stylistically, I definitely love sorcs

Fishy Necro Mate. That is the only build in the entire game that can go through hell solo with crappy items.
Yep, especially if you play hc, fishymancer is very pleasent build to play, mininons do the work while you are cursing in the background and popping bodies :coffee: so that's my recommendation.

And Dreamer Sorc but that's a bit pricey..

Nope. Perhaps you should take a peek at this thread: http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=480035

Superdave beat Hell Baal with a passive only Amazon, using only cracked/damaged/low quality items (or nothing at all), doing full clears, on /Players 8. In hardcore mode.

Insane Wayne has beaten Hell Baal with at least two completely naked characters, a druid (Cosmo) and an amazon (Alkithoe.)

Skillfull playing trumps equipment.

That would take an inordinate amount of time.

You'd probably use 100 town portals alone on normal level diablo.

How about, the only character that can beat D2 with crappy gear in a reasonable time frame?

Skillful playing trumps equipment assuming you don't give a crap about how long it takes.

I have often played necros, but I always found them lacking when facing bosses since they require corpses to create their minions. How is a fishymancer supposed to beat baal with no corpses for skels or CE?

You need to slow down the boss so that the skeletons can survive, and possibly to mess up the bosses spells in the case of baal. Clay golem can be enough alone, if not then add decreptify.

Diablo on normal can pose a problem if you reach him before you've got decrep. :whistling:

That said, I'd recommend a lightning trapper (fireblast for immunes). They're a lot more fun then summoners when untwinked imo. Plays faster and is still very safe since you've got such long range attacks and good crowd control skills.

Necros need no additional corpses with or without decrepify once they're finished. There is no possible boss pack or packs combo we're not able to handle. Where the sorc dies, we yawn. Where the hammerdin says "ng" we clear the troom.

The only downside is that we're generally not as fast. But, we're unstoppable.

i think poison java or traper are not too much gear dependent. these builds are playable like untwink...

An trap assassin is quite deadly, even untwinked. Death Sentry provides lightning damage as well as physical/fire from the corpse explosion.

You stay safe as you have both Fade and Cloak of Shadows, as well as the Shadow Warrior/Master to take a few hits for you.

This class is able to level quickly in normal by maxing out Wake of Fire early. You can reset your points in Nightmare to focus on the lightning skills. All you need in normal is a lot of mana potions and you should stay strong and safe.

This build is very safe when fighting Nihlathak as well. The damage reduction from fade helps with vipers and the Cloak of Shadows stops them from shooting those bugged poison trails. Death Sentry mops up corpses so Nihlathak cannot use them against you. You can throw Death Sentries into the room Nihlathak is in without even seeing him, and kill him while he is off-screen. The explosions will also take care of vipers.

Late game, if you can get your hands on an Infitnity for your mercenary, you will do enormous amounts of nearly unresistable lightning damage as well as boosted fire damage from Death Sentry's corpse explosion.

+1 to trapper
I went without a shadow though, she annoyed me too much. I also used kicks for lightning immunes; take down one lightning immune and let death sentry do the rest. Plus, crushing blow takes down bosses in no time.
