Reaper of Souls Season Two Legendary Items

Season Two begins today, Friday February 13th, on all three realms, and many players are primed to start from scratch and commence to rush to 70 and beyond. Here are the start times:

    • Asia: Friday, February 13 @ 6:00 p.m. KST
    • Europe: Friday, February 13 @ 6:00 p.m. CET
    • North America: Friday, February 13 @ 6:00 p.m. PST

[caption id="attachment_381459" align="alignright" width="250"][IMG] Sample S2 legs[/caption]You don't have to be in those regions to play there, and if you've ever wanted to try playing on a different realm, the start of a Season is the ideal time, since you'll be on an even footing with everyone else.

I head up , our IncGamers Hardcore clan on EU, (we're recruiting if you want some quality HC players to party with for S2) and I'm hoping to get in on the Season Two rush on that realm, mostly since it begins at 9am PST, 9 hours before Season Two starts off on the US realm. I won't spent 8 hours mainlining a S2 rush on EU, taking an hour break, and then doing it again on the US... but nothing is stopping you guys from going for it!

The overall gameplay in Season Two is identical to Season One and the current Era, but there are some new items coming up in Season Two that players may want to get their hands on, along with new transmog looks, new more-challenging conquests, and the general joy of building up a new character and earning a highly-ranked spot on the Leaderboards.

Season One was marked by the rush to 70 and marred by players who exploited to get there the fastest, but that initial rush should be less of a consideration in S2, since 1) the "first 1000 to level 70" leaderboard is gone, and 2) all (most?) of the exploits players used to hit 70 (and P100, and P200, etc) have been fixed. (To general fan approval.)

As a result, most players I've talked to are not thinking about just the rush to 70, but about the larger project of starting off fresh, and doing it smart. For instance, rather than running just Halls of Agony 3 to hit 70 the fastest, smart players are planning to do most of their leveling with Bounties and/or Rifts, to build up Rift Keystones and Blood Shards to use once they hit 70, and the real game starts.

As for the new Season Two Legendary Items, click through for the full list and some notes from testing them on the PTR.

    Season Two Legendary Items

Note that the three new sets and a lot of the other legendary items we saw at Blizzcon 2014 and got to try out in the demo at the show are not ready yet, and are not available in Season Two. It won't be too long though, as they're targeted for Patch 2.2.0, which should launch shortly before Season Three, in a few months.

    Legendary Gems

There are three new Legendary Gems:

    Esoteric Alteration
    • Gain 10% non-Physical damage reduction
    • Upgrade rank grants: +0.5% non-Physical damage reduction
    • Rank 25 unlocks: While below half Life, your resistances to Cold, Fire, Lightning, Poison, and Arcane are increased by 75%

    Molten Wildebeest's Gizzard
    • Regenerates 10,000 Life per Second
    • Upgrade rank grants: +1000 Life per Second
    • Rank 25 unlocks: After not taking damage for 4 seconds, gain an absorb shield for 200% of your total Life per Second

    Gem of Ease
    • Monster kills grant +500 experience
    • Upgrade rank grants: +50 experience per kill
    • Rank 25 unlocks: Level requirement reduced to 1

The experience per kill scales up on higher difficulty levels, which you're very able to handle solo since your level one character is wielding a level 70 weapon. I took this item for a test drive on the PTR and was amazed by how fast the exp gained. Even without much preparation or twinks (aside from the gem and an ancient weapon to stick it in, I hit level 45 in under 10 minutes. It's super fun; even Wyatt agrees.

    New Legendary Items

    Crusader

Belt of the Trove, new legendary belt.
    • Every 6-8 seconds, Bombardment is cast on a random nearby enemy

    Demon Hunter

    [caption id="attachment_382871" align="alignright" width="118"][IMG] From the PTR. [/caption]
    Odyssey's End, new legendary bow.
    • Enemies snared by Entangling Shot take 20-25% more damage from all sources

I like the idea of this weapon, but even though I found several on the PTR, I never bothered to use it. Yes, it's giving you equivalent damage buff of Marked for Death for free, but not like Calamity where it just happens by itself. To get it you have to use a bow without any other useful bonuses (like +elemental damage) and shoot a low damage Hatred Generator to create the damage buff, and since no form of Entangling Shot is automatic or contagious, you've got to reapply it constantly. This would be awesome if the game had a weapon switch hotkey (though even then I'd probably just use Calamity on the switch), but the only time I can imagine this bow really shining is against big Elites, especially in parties since the 20-25% damage buff applies to all types of damage, from all sources.

    Wizard

    Ranslor's Folly, New Legendary Bracers
    • Energy Twister periodically pulls in an enemy within 30 yards
    • An enemy can only be pulled in this way once every 5 seconds

Halo of Arlyse, New Legendary Ring
Your Ice Armor now provides 50-60% Melee Damage Reduction and automatically casts Frost Nova whenever you take 10% of your Life in damage

    New Legendary Affixes

Existing items with a new legendary affix. These changes are not retroactive, and players need to find the new item to get the new bonus. (Not that anyone brings old items into a new Season anyway.)

    Barbarian

    The Undisputed Champion, Mighty belt.
    • Frenzy gains the effect of every rune

I realize this will never make a Barb capable of much more than GR30, and that single target skills can never do more than stand out in the snow and scratch on the window, but I really enjoy chopping things up with Frenzy, so I might roll one up anyway. And hope to pair it with the Reverend Bashiok, for super chopping action.

    Witch Doctor

    Wormwood, Staff
    • Locust Swarm is cast on a nearby enemy every second
    • Now rolls with +20-25% Poison skill damage as one of its four primary affixes

    Monk

    Gungdo Gear, Bracers
    • Exploding Palm's on-death explosion applies Exploding Palm

I had high hopes for these when I found them on the PTR, but was ultimately disappointed. The concept is amazing, and they create incredible visuals, but are only really useful against huge packs. The problem is the radius of Exploding Palm is very small, so you really need enemies packed in around you. When they are, either in Realm of Trials waves or on a dense Rift or if you're pushing your Monk's top difficulty and enemies are living long enough to crowd around, the Gungdo Gear is amazing. But once you're geared enough to fly through T6, you don't need the property. On the PTR I wound up using Krelm's bracers for normal play since the anti-Vortex/Knockback was enjoyable and time-saving and the Belt was fantastic for faster clears, and only strapping on the Gungdo Gear for Realm Waves or high GRs.

That said, it's amazingly fun to watch EP spread and clear entire screens in a sudden series of splashes, so these bracers are highly recommended, at least to experiment with.

Not sure if it's just me but some of your links to wiki are not working. I get this...There is currently no text in this page. You can search for this page title in other pages, search the related logs, or edit this page.

I'm torn between Barb, Monk, and WD for Season 2. The Wormwood staff looks good on paper and cries for Hexing Pants, but then you can't use the important Quetzal mask for a Jade build anymore. So, I assume that the Locust Swarm auto-cast on this 2H-staff is not more than just a replacement for the power of the missing mojo and useful only in other custom builds.

Quick question, are the EU softcore incgamers clans receiving some attention soon? Lots of inactive players in Inc1. So much better when there's many on!

Personally I would ignore the Hexing Pants for a Jade build and use Wormwood to try freeing up a skill slot. Losing Locust Swarm / Pestilence doesn't sound too appealing to me, but bringing a party-wide damage buff in MP could be well worth it.

I'll check on that. They are included in the most recent S2 preview from Blizzard, but things do change...

On the dev livestream they said they swapped out the bracers for the ring because they realised the bracers weren't very good without the slow time set, and they didn't want a season two item to be useless until season three.

The legendary items are disappointing really. It's fine if items they create ultimately end up not being as strong as other items, despite their efforts, since it's hard to anticipate all the variables. But most of these items *aren't even attempts* to make items that are competitive with other items i.e adding no diversity. I mean... wth??

Halo of Arlyse looks good. Sadly I'm not planning rolling Wiz on S2. Yet.
