Just bought it.
I'm a bit stumped because really, €39,99? That's $55 for an expansion....

US vs EU prices fail again.

Anyway, are they not adding more character slots with the expansion? Regardless of CE.
Otherwise that has to be one of the dickiest moves in the game industry ever.
"here is another class!".
"now pay some extra to be able to actually play it".

Hopefully it is 2 extra slots in RoS, and 3 more on top of that with CE. Then it would be okay.

here is what it says for the DDE:
You also have the option to prepurchase the Digital Deluxe Edition, which contains a wealth of in-game goodies: a collection of exclusive helm- and weapon-transmogrification recipes to distinguish your hero among the champions of Sanctuary; a loyal Spectral Hound minion to keep your adventurers company on their epic journeys; three additional character slots to accommodate new heroes; an in-game Treasure Goblin companion pet for World of Warcraft; and an assortment of Crusader-themed Battle.net portraits and Malthael-themed decals for StarCraft II.

Would be okay with cosmetic microtransactions. Also more stash space etc - as long as the standard amount isnt ridicilosuly limited to force people toward the microtransaction.
Hell, I would likely pay for a bigger stash.

Much better than RMAH at least.

Selling actual in-game benefits through microtransactions would be much worse than RMAH though.

Every single FTP game w/ inventory has NEVER done this right. Every single one, the free stash is way too small. For some games, it wouldn't surprise me if a good chunk of their microtransaction revenue is simply stash space. Do not give them that idea.

They started to test microtransactions on WoWs Asian servers as far as I know. Other than that no.
Well, they have had some services in WoW like server transfer, name change etc, but not really the same thing.

Heartsthone is 100% microtransaction based though, and microtransactions that directly translates to in-game power.

Ah yeah, forgot the mounts and pets in WoW :D So silly.
I remember when they added the first pay-mount in WoW, everyone who dared to show themselves with one got mocked.

Did they ever implement Arcade in SC2?

But yeah, the Hearthstone pay-to-win is the type of microtransactions I really dislike.

SC2 doesn't have any pay Arcade games. That was supposed to be in at release, and one xpac later, no dice.

$40, 40€ and $50 AUD for RoS? lulz..hilarious. i was wondering why the sky was filled with salt crystals the size of golf balls. still, i don't know why people are reacting as if a panda armed with a handgun exploded out of their computer screens to rob them of their money. RoS sounds like a good deal and blizz was even kind enough to throw this in for free for D3V players: https://twitter.com/Diablo/status/370280976716283904
oops. never mind, i forgot players have to pay for it.

Not surprising. With the RMAH gone they're going to be adding some microtransactions. Character slots, stash tabs, transmog effects. Skill effects transmogs, or maybe a "looks like one rune but is actually another rune" effects. They'll probably wait a while to announce these because they won't want to make it seem like a huge cash grab with "buy expansion! also, separately, buy these things!" but I do think that's what's going to end up happening.
of course, it's standard AAA method of operation. the era of paying for a complete game up-front and never reaching for your wallet again is practically dead. AAA companies like EA and others build micro-transactions into everything it does. in any event, enjoy the endless promotion of endless products, guys. in the meantime, i'll try really hard not to sound so gleeful when i read about companies that continue to buck modern gaming trends:

Discussing the idea of additional content with EDGE, Takeshi Miyazoe said: “For Dark Souls 2, we don’t even expect any additional downloadable content because we want to deliver a full game, the full experience, to fans who purchase the package from day one. We did do additional content for Dark Souls, but generally downloadable content for Dark Souls II is not really being considered. Buy the package and you’ll get the full experience, and you’ll have as much fun as anybody else. Spending a couple dollars on certain items does not help the experience. So no free-to-play yet!â€

anyway, how many of you would buy the expansion?
I am very hesitant because of the steep price, but if it gets on sale, then i´ll probably buy it because I love Arpg a lot more than mmos.

Atm I am playing POE and actually having a really good time there(I totally love the skill tree and theory crafting there) and assassin´s creed black flag, which is an awesome game aswell.
