Thanks to Vega for spotting this on his account today and sending us a few screenshots of the beast. Alas, he is less than impressed with the creature, at this point. From his email:

It is a bit small at this point, eh? Reminiscent of the gold pets from D3 beta, or the Demon Hunter's Ferret Companions. Perhaps that's intentional so you don't confuse it with other minions or monsters? Or perhaps this is a rough draft and the devs will enlarge it if that's what player feedback encourages...

The spectral hound is enabled via that item you see in the inventory. The Demon Hunter's skeletal wings are not part of this prize; those are an appearance item from the SC2:CE, and also, it's not a centaur-DH, she's just got a pet wolf summoned who is standing right behind her with the head hidden.

Wow, it IS waaaay too small...with it was at least 50% bigger.

The Latin is troubling me.

Canem mortuum is \"dead dog\" in the accusative case, and liber could be \"free\" though it doesn\'t agree with the previous words, or it could be \"book,\" but that would make little sense. And if it was a form of liberare \"to free\" it would need some ending.

After checking it myself, gotta say it is indeed very small...BUT at same time, very well animated and cute...thought i wish it was alittle bigger.

Actually they are not \"Demon hunter\'s skeletal wings\", the wings belongs to Kerrigan from Starcraft 2.

I think he meant the demon hunter in the screenshot, not that the wings belong to demon hunters in general.

Looks like they are on the right track by copying Runic\'s Torchlight..... Way to go Blizzard.
Remind me.... was this game a MMO? or did I miss something here?

If I wear my murlocket will this little guy try to eat my summoned murlock? He should, look at those spikes.. and you know it\'s got a chihuahua/napoleon complex goin on..

I still have not purchased the expansion. Is it worth the extra money for the pet and various other items? Should I just get the base expansion?
