Re: Re-rolling jewels

so theoretically i could use a jewel that all ready had +15% ias, and a lower level mod, and continue rerolling it for a 15% ias / 15% resist all?

No, doesn't work like that

3 Perfect Gems (of any type) + 1 Magic Item = 1 New Random Magic Item of the Same Type
You can use this formula to get another chance at a Magic Item of the same type. The ilvl = ilvl. This means to use 100% of the ilvl of the input item. It's important to note the difference between "the ilvl is set to a fixed number" like what happens in some recipes and "the ilvl of the output is exactly the same as the ilvl of the input" as is the case here. So if you're cubing for +skills Grand Charms, for example, you want to use Charms starting from late Nightmare, not ones that dropped in the Normal Blood Moor. You can use this formula (with an Amulet) to create a +2 Skills Amulet. And you cannot Gamble one before Character Level 84. Be warned however, that the chances of getting that on an Amulet might be very low (considering everything is available) and it might take a lot of tries. Rare Items cannot be used with this formula to create new Rare Items. You can also use this on Charms and Jewels.

Re: Re-rolling jewels

i understand that, but since it has the ias, couldnt it be assumed that the jewel would be at least the ilvl required for the ias?

if not where would the best place to pick up a jewel for rerolling ias/resist ?

the ilvl would need to be at least 39 for 15 ias, correct?

more theory... i could find a jewel from nightmare catacombs (mlvl43 = ilvl43?) and rerolling it would keep it ilvl 43 and be able to spawn both ias and 15 res all, correct?

Essentially Yes, Dgswen.

If you are searching to roll a +15%IAS and +15 Res All Jewel. It may take you many many many many many many rolls, but you could potentially get lucky and have both +15 IAS and +15 Res, all land on the same jewel at once... Be forewarned though... Its like trying to find that quarter that you just dropped and it fell into the middle of a good sized lake.

You may roll a whole lot of other things before you even get close to a 15/15 jewel... That is if it doesn't spawn with like 15%IAS/+11 Resist all....

Re: Re-rolling jewels

Just to clarify- the fact that it already has IAS on it means that it is ilvl 39 or higher, as otherwise the suffix "of Fervor" couldn't spawn. Since the other affix you are looking for "Scintillating" is alvl 34, it could potentially spawn on any jewel of ilvl 34 or higher. Since rerolling won't change the ilvl of the jewel (even though some much lower affix level affixes will probably appear during the many many rerolls you attempt) you will always have a chance at getting your desired jewel. One of the difficulties on the realms is that you cannot inspect the items to see what their ilvls are, so you need to either keep careful track of what dropped where or keep an eye on the affixes to deduce what the ilvl could be. In SP, you can use ATMA or GoMule to see ilvls directly, which means you don't need to be careful about what is where.

Another thing worth mentioning: Scintillating is quite a rare prefix, with frequency 1, which means that it is 4 times less common than many not particularly desirable prefixes, like +5-8 defense, +16-25 stamina and many others. To get your desired jewel, four things need to happen:

1) the game needs to roll that the jewel gets both a prefix and suffix
2) the prefix needs to be the quite rare "Scintillating"
3) the suffix needs to be "of Fervor"
4) the Scintillating prefix needs to roll 15 out of the 11-15 possibilities.

Good luck! Most people think that rerolling GCs is a better use of PGems, by the way.
