Rant: Norton 2006 is a piece of garbage

Ever since I installed it, my computer won't shut down properly... not to mention it freezes the whole system when it does its stupid checks.[/rant]

Maybe it is time to install Linux...

    Avast! Antivirus for the win...

It's free, it works, it's not overhyped bloatware (My opinion of Mcaffee and Norton)

Heck, even my USB drive came with Avast.

I'm using AVG and have no problems. The trick is to use a good browser, not the evil that is IE or AOL

I paid $100 for Norton. Seems to work fine for me.

Lots of nifty features too especialy since it can manipulate built in windows firewall features to make them less... bothersome.

The worst part is that Norton wants to be your only antivirus--ever. That program is such a pain in the *** to uninstall completely.

I use the free version of AVG and Firefox, no problems here.

It use to take my PC about 10 minutes to warm up, since I got rid of Norton it only takes a couple of minutes. I paid £50 for it, so being tight I only got rid of it when my subscription ran out a couple of months ago. Avast has worked great for me so far.
