Ranger (not a range discussion)

Note: Please forgive the revamp of a previous thread. For simplicity sake, tree distinction, and to avoid name discussion, I’m using AD&D ranger subclass names.

I believe that we can all agree we know what to expect from a ranged character. There will of course be proficiency in bows, crossbows, and a variety of ranged weaponry. We can also expect missiles of a magical or elemental sort etc. To be perfectly honest it’s a necessary class that will be an improved cookie cutter of the Rogue and the Amazon.

Some people have suggested a Ranger as this 4th ranged class. I have no issue with the class choice though I disagree with that name, but that is irrelevant. Blizzard seems to be in a tight space because the addition of two characters in LoD guaranties voids in pre-expansion Diablo III. If Blizzard choses to go with a Ranger class I think they would do it a disservice by making it purely ranged based, especially when it has the potential to partially fill the roles of the Assassin and the Druid. I would put forward that in addition to a marksman build the ranger archetype has two other roles. Namely that of a Stalker and a Beastmaster.

I’ve devised two skill trees around the Stalker and Beastmaster. The Skills are in no particular order though they are divided into branches of the tree. I’ve decided to aim for about 12 skills total, as we have seen from screen shots the current barbarian tree has about 18 skills per tree, this is completely open to comments, suggestions, and criticisms.
