    Rancid Defilers

What is it exactly that these things do?

I mean, I know they run away from you, I know they make swirly lights appear under monsters feet (as seen on the left of that screenshot), and I know the swirly lights make a splatting sound when you kill that monster.

But, do they actually do damage? or enhance other monsters damage? Or life? Or something? I've wondered for a long time, I even searched around for it briefly once, but I figured I'd finally ask.

They are just there for kicks it seems.

I love seeing mods on them that I would fear on say Frenzytaurs, because I know it doesn't matter.

When they "infect" other mobs, they spawn rancid dogs when they die... which are pretty darn weak, and usually die as soon as they spawn. I've seen SC players die to them tho :D

They spawn these, to be exact.

So, basically, they do nothing. ^^

They infect others monsters with the pain worms, thats what the swirly thing is. then when the monster is killed, the pain worm comes out and comes after you. But you never notice it because it is either instagibbed by your merc or atomized by someone's AOE skill
