quik noob question
my barb cannot summon iron golem with metal grid.
what am i doing wrong?
You cannot simply cast an Iron Golem out of thin air. You need a metal object (weapon, armor, shield, etc.). Read the details in the Necromancer skills section on www.battle.net/diablo2exp/. Additionally, the Golem will inherit the properties of the base item.
This can be a neat trick to enhance your golem for certain situations. If you find a nice but ethereal unique that seems useless, keep it for later and use it to cast a golem. Same for rares that have good mods but you can't use. Look for items with crushing blow, extra damage, high defense, or other mods you might need.
Remember that items that have a chance to cast spells will work for your golem too.
i am fully equipted barb with metalgrid. i do not understand why i cannot summon it. is it because i carry eth botd sword?
1. Are the item you're using a metallic item?
2. Is it on the ground?
Before any mistunderstandings regarding the metal object come up, in particular because something like BotD was mentioned: You have to create an iron golem from a metallic item on the ground. That item will DISAPPEAR, so for god's sake, don't try that with your BotD weapon !
To sum it up:
A metallic item must be on the ground. Then you click on it with the iron golem skill. The item turns into an iron golem. The item cannot be brought back.
Also, since your character is not a necro, the iron golem will be lost between games. He will not be saved like a necromancer's iron golem will.
Pretty much everything has been said.
One last thing that you'll probably understand now : never drop a metallic item "behind the wall to show it" or anything like that, because if the other person is a scammer (a necro, or any other character using a Metalgrid), he can transmute your item on the ground into a godly Iron Golem and quit the game laughing... oint: :weep:
