I'd say if you were twinking, then maybe a Sorceress =\ You could get her to a decent level by just playing through, then stick an Insight on a merc, with a Spirit weapon on her, teleport the rest of the way?

was originally thinking fireball sorc, but by the time i'm able to use insight27 and spirit 25 i've had chars in act5 already

granted it was .09 and the pld killed D at 18, things are different now

summon necro. i got through act 2 before he permed. i'd say 5 hrs to socket or so.

I remember reading in the Single Player forum about someone making a blizz sorc matriarch in around three hours total. If you're only talking about Normal Act V, you should be able to do it in an hour or so.

Well getting rushed you could get all 4 chars to early a5 in under 45 mins

Also, if twinked, you would be best off with a barbarian. Double Swing is VERY deadly in normal.

I had this debate last season, I was trying to self-rush for socket quests too. You're basically looking at a modified LLD build, since you're going to be shooting for L20~25 by the time you hit Shenk, but will have to make it "over the hump" between about 18 and 24, so thats what you should build for.

Really, A1-3 is going to be a joke with any class. Sigon's + Civerbs makes it a cakewalk with any class. There's only two "challenges" that will really slow you down. One is A4, because thats when you start feeling the burn (literally) from elemental damage (Trav/Durance 3 is basically A4 warmup, too). The other trick is getting through A3. That's going to be half your runtime right there if you dont have a way to get yourself the Travincal WP.

That basically boils things down to 3 possibilities:

Fireball sorc
Pro: Strong offense, Leaf, useful skills become available early, TP lets you skip through zones real fast, if you have the pots to chug.
Con: Least defense/resist means you'll have more trouble with bossfights. Least amount of useful uniques/RWs at this level.

Zealot
Pro: Best defense, pally shield for resists. Vigor speeds things up at 18.
Con: Slows down a lot towards the end, once Sigons+Civerbs starts to lack. Slow to start till you get Zeal.

Doubleswing Barb
Pro: Fastest offense with dual Civerbs and lots of early skills.
Con: Slowest movement rate. No shield, suffers for resists/block in A4.

I wouldnt recommend summoner because you lose SOOO much time in places like the Maggot Lair where he just has NO good options.

My suggestion would be the sorc, if you dont want to ask around for Trav WP, but if you're willing, Zealot. Zealot is a little slower, but just so easy and point-click, and benefits the most from twinking of these three.

If you get stuck in A4, remember that you can swap out and clear the path from Pandy through Chaos with a high-level fast AoE char like an orb or CL sorc, kill all the seal bosses but not D, then swap in your mule char, and then just have them run/TP through the empty zone to the end and finish off Diablo to get the quest.

+1 Trapper. Wake of fire is very effective in normal and available at level 12. Use burst of speed to help you get around quickly. Add in some frw boots and a stealth and you ought to be running around pretty fast with wake of fire killing everything quickly.

Edit: Perhaps get a pair of goblin toes and a crushflange in the stash for boss fights. Not exactly sure how effective WoF is vs. bosses, but I would imagine not nearly as effective as it is vs mobs of monsters haha.

~ you get burst of speed early so you can thumb your nose at needing frw or ias.
~ your main skill starts being pumpable at lvl 1 (same as a summoner, but without the dumb AI of summons)
~you can give entire rooms a pass with cloak of shadows.

Off the top of my head, I'd say an Assassin, using Burst of Speed (1), Cloak of Shadows (1), Wake of Fire for AoE (x+), and Dragon Talon (12 or 18, w/ +skills) against strong single enemies or small groups. Level at experience hot spots as needed. Otherwise, run through as much as possible; fight only when necessary. She has strong speed, avoidance, mob control, and boss killing capabilities. BoS and CoS allow her to avoid a lot of monsters. Overlapping WoF works well in Normal once you get the level up a bit. Can't get around the need for mana pots here and there, unfortunately. With good boots, some IAS, some CB, and three kicks per series (12 DTalon), champs and Normal bosses will go down pretty quick.

If twinking, my plan would be:

Armor: Angelics @ 13 (socketed Tir); Silks option @ 28
Amulet: Angelics @ 12
Ring1: Angelics @ 12
Ring2: Manald @ 15
Belt: Death's @ 6
Gloves: Death's @ 6
Boots: Hsaru's @ 3, Goblin Toes @ 22 vs. bosses
Shield: Hsaru's @ 3, Sigon's @ 13 (Socketed Tir); Eyeless Wall option @ 20

Sigon Helm and boots are options @ 6+ but have high Str reqs.

These provide a lot of important bonuses: +skills, LL, ML, Life, Mana, DgtM, MpK, Life Replenish, Resists, Dex, Str, Mana Regen, IAS, CBF. Charms can fill any holes in resistances.

Lots of good gear becomes available @ 28+. Merc can use Insight @ 27, etc. Dragon Flight can be used to collect merc and shadow as needed after 24, and can be used to "tele" to conveniently located monsters. She'll need to pot more than I'd prefer probably, but that's par for the course in Normal.

I actually play through the game, even on Bnet, so I collect leveling gear. I have all of the above except Silks on the current ladder, found, made by me (RW) or traded for in game.

Yeah, she'd be my first bet. Have to give it a try sometime and see how she does.

any char but a druid and an assassin... but that is called classic rush and ehm untwinked i would go for an amazon powerstrike rules in the early levels... and you only need just a bit of ML or 2 tirs..

or perhaps some form of a charger (zealer?) with either max might, or fire aura

doing act3 without rush is a serious pain.. if you want to do it multiple times; just ask other players for travi+mef wps..

Also, if you run to the trav wp and kill the council, simply join a game after where the meph quest has already been completed and you will be able to run down into the durance and get the durance lvl 2 wp.

After that, make a new game and use your durance wp to go kill Meph.

Or just ask someone for the wps, like fledgeling said.

+1 trapper if just for normal. A fire druid could probably kick butt too, with fissure. If you're twinked though, anything will do.

I am just gonna mention two skills that will get you to act 5 the quickest by far.

Static field - every boss is a joke with this skill in normal, spam this and the shift+beltkey for the merc
Teleport - self explainable

Any sorc will do.

Get yourself a sigon set and charms so you can be able to equip it at level 6. Also mule over a kahlim's will and you are set to go.

Stealth at level 17 and blue fcr rings/amu and a 20% cast rate staff will get you to 75% aka over the 9 frame breakpoint for tping pretty damn quick.

And to repeat what someone over me here said: get the act 3 wp and skip the quest saves alot of time.

Also. a tip: When tping (or any other skill for that matter) chug mana pots right after the first tp. It will keep on filling you up until your mana is full again or the pot run out. This way you can tp longer and skip more just by doing that.
