Quick Question On Cube Status Repair Formula

Let's say you repaired damaged/cracked/low quality whites into normal quality whites, thus resetting the ilvl to 1, and then you Larzuk the item.

Is it correct that you will always be getting 1 socket then?

however, if I don't larzuk the item, and gamble for sockets with cube formula, then ilvl is negated and i have a chance at max socket right?

well, i mean, after repair the low-quality items, thus resetting ilvl to 1, THEN you use the socket gamble formula, then it's still possible to get all the range of sockets right?

The range is not full. An ilvl 1 Archon Plate will only get 3 sockets from Larzuk.

BTW, a repaired low-level Berserker Axe is a prime candidate for Passion and other 4-socket runewords, since an ilvl 1 BA will get 4 sockets from Larzuk. Of course, it won't be superior.

Re: Quick Question On Cube Status Repair Formula

I'm going to necro this thread rather than making a new one.

How is the defense of the repaired armor calculated?

I have found several superior armors (light, 500+ def), but they all have 0os or 4os, so I can't make treachery or duress in them. I do have a few decent (450-490) defense non-superior 0os armors that I could try cubing, but there is only a 1/6 chance of getting 3os, and I just want to have another avenue.

The repair recipe is cheap and I have ~30 sockets quests saved, so if repaired armor can get good defense, I'd like to try getting my armor that way.

EDIT:

I cubed up the three damaged armors I had.

Code:
Before

Low Quality Boneweave
Defense: 322
Durability: 12 of 14
Required Strength: 158
Required Level: 47
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 69
Fingerprint: 0x219d9ef8

Cracked Scarab Husk
Defense: 344
Durability: 6 of 9
Required Strength: 95
Required Level: 51
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 80
Fingerprint: 0x44c19f5a

Damaged Dusk Shroud
Defense: 275
Durability: 5 of 6
Required Strength: 77
Required Level: 49
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 80
Fingerprint: 0x9d15b609

After

Boneweave
Defense: 470
Durability: 23 of 45
Required Strength: 158
Required Level: 47
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 1
Fingerprint: 0x382a3861

Scarab Husk
Defense: 472
Durability: 27 of 28
Required Strength: 95
Required Level: 51
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 1
Fingerprint: 0xd041d53f

Dusk Shroud
Defense: 451
Durability: 18 of 20
Required Strength: 77
Required Level: 49
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 1
Fingerprint: 0x50db2d6
So,

322 ----> 470
344 ----> 472
275 ----> 451

This does suggest a pattern, but it could be a coincidence. I'll have to cube more to see. The 472 scarab husk is probably usable. I'll have to see how a husk looks on a druid though.

EDIT: I just realized that a 472 Scarab Husk is 2 off perfect. Pretty nice for the cost of a cracked armor + el +chipped gem.

My understanding is the defense gets randomly rerolled within the 'normal' range. I don't believe the original 'damaged' defense has any effect.

Okay, I guess I got lucky with the Scarab Husk (my favorite armor btw). Now I can do this:

15% SoE + lvl 15 Fade = 30% dr

Treachery = Chains of Honor Lite.
