Questions pertaining the Phoenix runeword and Javazon gear

Hi all :smiley:

I have a few questions pertaining the Phoenix runeword. I've searched and read a lot of treads on this forum, but still don't have all my questions answered. First of all the most important one: does the 400% ED on Phoenix apply to the damage of my LF and PJ, or does it only apply when using jab? Thing is, I've got both a stormshield and a Phoenix Monarch atm, but I don't know which is best to use.

If the 400% ED does apply to my jav's LF damage, I'd definately got for Phoenix, especially cuz it's combined with the redemption aura, allowing me to swap out mana leech gear for better alternatives. If the 400% ED doesn't apply to LF, then I find it a hard choise to justify redemption over the resists, DR, block and 30 strenght a stormshield gives.

Or are there any other, better alternatives that I'm overlooking here? I'm mainly thinking of spirit in this case.

Second question: anything in particular that should be changed about my gear? I currently have / am gathering following gear:

- Eth upped 200%ED titans (which is the main reason I'm building a javazon :tongue: )
- Phoenix / Stormshield / Spirit Monarch
- Vampire gaze
- CoH
- 2 jav & spear skills / 20% IAS gloves
- Raven + rare ring / Raven
- Highlord's / Rare ama ammy with resists
- Waterwalks
- Thundergods

Well to answer your question yes phoenix does add damage to your LF but it will only increase the physical damage you do not the lightning damage. But I do like phoenix as a shield. I also like the +2 skills from spirit. Its up to you others will say to use something different.

And to your gear.

I personally find andy's helm more usefull than vamp gaze but griffons (for max damage) is the best in my opinion.

Gore Riders and War travs are both better than waterwalks in my opinion.

And Razor tail is much better than tgods in my opinion. Razor tail makes 100% pierce become very easy. The more enemies 1 jav hits means more lightning at 1 time. Basically 100% pierce does more damage than the +skills from Tgods.

These are all my opinion only others will say different things.

well I am using crappy phoenix on ladder atm for pvm cow runs (no mf crap like XD)
well, she is fun, especially with griffon the dmg is very nice. Phoenix, on the otherhand, does't do much to increase dmg. it is noticeble on LCS, but no more. However redemtion is so damn good, as is +fire abs which helps out quite a bit for me in CS.
i don't opt for highlord as 1pt critical is more than enough imo, and would rather opt for +2ama/10FRW amu etc.
Agree on razortail. This enables mass killing and some very flash screen XD

The 400ed is physical damage, meaning it does nada for your lightning attacks. But as you say this is for PvM, you will benefit for thinking offensively --> Pheonix is way better than SS. Heck, I wouldnt use SS in HC even(there I choose Sanctuary)

Vs price, you cant find a better offensive shield for your PvM Java.

If you decide to go with Pheonix, drop all leech items and focus on +skills and 100%pierce + MF if you want.
Gaze is a no on a offensive PvM Java.
Try getting a pair of +3/20 gloves, or 2/20/mf rare gloves if you want more mf.
Highlord can you swap out. I would even use the crappiest +2amaskill amulet I could find over HL. +skills are your friend.
Waterwalks is to defensive for my taste. I prefer Wts for the mf.
Tgods can be swapped for Razortail. Have it in stash for the times you run down to Baal, alongside maybe a whisp.

I made up my mind on a few things, but I have one more question: If not using Gaze for leech, what is the best helm to use? Nightwing's? Stealskull? Or a simple shako? I think I'm gonna swap to a rare amazon circlet once, but I don't have that one yet :smiley:

If you use Pheonix, you dont need leech.

Nightwing doesnt help you abit.
Stealskulls lacks +skillls, but have nice leech/ias/mf.
Shako is a very good friend of the javazon, +skills/mana/mf.
Rare amahelm must have very nice stats to be as useful as the shako.

Another idea that gets to my mind: what about Andariel's Visage socketed with a 15IAS jewel, which would give 35 IAS? Combined with my 20 IAS gloves, I'd reach the 55 IAS breakpoint. Plus to that, it also has +str and +2 skills... Is this worth it?

More FRW gives more fun IMO ;-)

I used a VW,Titans,Eni,aldurs boots ... and looked ages for a frw/2ama craft amu...

Somehow i managed to max my resists with spirit/@jewel in VW, maras and charms

Get yourself above 3k LF and 7k CS, it's soooo fast kiling
