Questions on Mercenary Auras

Hello all, I was hoping that someone here could clairify something on auras on mercs. I have learned that a patch made it impossible to have more than two auras on an act 2 merc, one being their native aura when you hire them (holy freeze, blessed aim, defiance, might, thorns, prayer) and one aura from a rune word item that they can equip.

My question is, is this two aura limit true on other mercenaries like the rogues, iron wolves, and barbarians, or are they limited to one aura from rune words, having no native aura of their own.

I am not sure if something like two auras limit exists. (But I am not skilled with overpowered BNet runewords (made with duped runes)). IIRC, there is no limit on auras - of course you can't have two auras of different level...
Where did you read/learned there is a limit?

Yes, that's a general bug with aura granting items on mercenery -- you have to reequip item after resurecting the merc to acitvate the aura again.

I've never heard about number of auras limit on mercenary, but then again i've never had more than two auras on merc.

As far as I know, there is no limit on any mercenary auras. I know what you mean, and I recall reading posts (here for one) that say that even though you may see more than two auras cycling from merc gear, only two (one gear plus one innate) will be active at a time, but I don't believe this is true. I unfortunately don't have the gear to test this myself, but I believe it's been debunked.

As has been stated already, if your merc dies and is resurrected, you have to reequip his aura-granting items for them to be active again. In this case, only the most recently reequipped item will give an aura, but if you log out and back in with your merc wearing all of his gear, all of the auras will again be active.

Someone please correct me if the above is wrong.

Perhaps i can make it more clear on why I was asking. I recall reading something about a dual dream bug on act 3 mercs and how you could make their dmg insanely high, basically 1 hit ko on hell baal and the such.

There was a server side patch put in place to fix this, that also kept mercs from acheiving more than two auras, but it was always in reference to act two mercs, so I was curious if the limit was one from gear and one natural aura.

I also have read that although you may see more than 2 auras, only 2 will be active from a merc. (I really wish I could direct you to the posts, but Im having difficulty considering it was about 3 weeks ago that i read it.)

If this could be clairified, it would be much apreciated, as I want to get three auras going on a rogue, but dont want to waste the runewords if she cant use them anyway.

This particular bug didn't interested me. I am not aware that it was fixed by limiting auras (different auras at least). Anyways, if you are rich, it shouldn't be so hard to test that on BNet.

Again, Im not asking about the bug, I was just refering to it because that is where I read something about a serverside patch that limited auras on mercs. (I can not find this thread, my appologies)

Im asking about the limit of auras on mercs.

I have not seen it definatively proven that there is or isnt a limit, but I am curious and have nothing other than the visuals to go by. (which cant always be trusted, from what I have been reading)

If anyone is willing to test it and can prove it, it would be most apreciated.

Personally, I would like to know the limit on rogue mercs, but this shouldnt be any different than other mercs (maybe more on a town guard because of their native aura).

I really, really doubt that there is some limitation on auras on mercs, and I don't believe they make any BNet only patches related to hardcoding dlls. Of course I can't really prove it, since I don't play on BNet.
