Questions about pvm bonemancer

greetings fellow lovers of all things dead and rotting.
For my first dedicated bonemancer was planned to look something like this:
max teeth, bone wall/prision, bspear, bspirit with one point in barmour. I realise there are a lot of points there and I probably won't max all of them, but that is what I would be aiming for.
Is a decently equipped HF merc enough of a tank? If not, is spending 15/20 points in clay golem/mastery worthwhile? Where would I take these points from?

Most bonemancers nowadays use the synergy bug from the marrowwalks boots; if you want to keep that option, don't put anything in bone prison.

You also only really need ONE point into gumby (clay golem), your +skills will bump him up. Same with Golem Mastery. If you come across the Morrow walk boots, then by all means don't put anything into bone prison.

I like my bone necro. I don't know if this is good or bad but it scares the "hell" out of people. The only problem I have with it is it's a very mana intensive build!

Good luck

yes i have found him very mana dependent, even at early levels. and i completely forgot about the marrowbug. I spose that gives me more than enough points to play with.
are curses necessary for this build? I can't get any more damage from spear and spirit, but would decrep help?

Atm Im working on a new bonemancer.
My old one had pts in Dim, Confuse and Attract which I later in the game realized was a waste of pts since my 1 pt in Revive was enough for crowdcontrolling.
He also had base nrg of 150 :surprise:

So now im putting no pts into nrg and all into vit :D
Ill be using things that gives mana after each kill (Tir runes in Homon, Que-Hegans, Shako and Boneshade = 14 mana after each kill)
Ive tried those items on my old bonemancer and it was VERY effective

Hehe... sounds familiar.

I'm a Skelemancer, though, not a Bonemancer... but I hardly ever use Dim Vision either. So far, I'm still saving my excess skillpoints, instead of putting them into DV for more radius/duration...

I don't have Attract/Confuse; maybe I'll spend those 2 points.

However, I DO find that I use DV occasionally --- not in the WSK, but in places like Frozen River, where gloams can be very annoying 'cause they always sit on the other side of a water barrier, happily throwing their lighting bolts at me and my party, with just my golem to distract them and my magi sometimes trying to cast back.

At times, I just spam DV over the rivers to cool them down at bit. Especially when I notice that my party has trouble with the lightning despite reasonable playing style (I tend to only help people if I see they are playing seriously enough).

Of course, I do try to kill them as well (the gloams, not the party) --- firewall them, raise a few skellies on the other side, or just CE. But still, DV has some limited use; I'm just not sure I want to spend more than 1 point (+6 from items) in it :)

I guess the left branch of the curses tree is pretty good if you don't have decent gear. As the gear improves, the branch looses usefulness.

I would have expected it to be more useful to a bonemancer, though, since they don't have a lot of minions.
