Questions about preparation for RoS

Trying to prepare for RoS.

My plan is to stack up as many whites as possible since in the PTR i run out of these quickly (i craft alot and plan drops are plenty). Plus that i have had several Puzzle Rings drop which were major upgrades, and as you all know, when the goblin runs around you never see any whites.

My thought is to make as many new chars as i have room for and fill their inventories with whites.

- Are white items from Vanilla salvagable in the expansion?

Also i have planned to delete my existing chars before RoS hit, starting over with new chars.

- Will the paragon levels earned with my chars count in the conversion to Paragon Points, even if the characters are deleted before RoS hits?

Not sure about either question, but I'll give you a response

I know that your dead HC paragons do count, but I'm not sure if that applies to deleted characters.

Someone, please answer these questions. I'd also like to know about salvaging whites since my new wiz is finding full inventory quantities in every keeps run.

Good questions, unfortunately I don't know the answers. If I had to take a wild guess, though, I'd say no on both counts. Blizzard doesn't want anything from D3 original to be useable in the expansion, so you can probably only salvage level 70 white items. On the PTR you CAN salvage white items into 'Common Debris' though, and 'Common Debris' also drops from enemies.

As for the Paragon stuff, if you delete the character BEFORE you install RoS I'm almost 100% certain that you will LOSE all of that characters Paragon experience. There's just no mechanism in core D3 for recording Paragon points on deleted characters, as in core the points are per character, not per account.

I would wait till you install RoS before deleting anything. Not sure why you would delete them prior and risk losing the levels/xp?

I have 5 chars softcore, one of each class. But only two of them have paragon levels (42 and 100).
The plan was to delete the three others (since i will delete all chars anyway when RoS hits in order to start over)
and with the slots available - eight - i would fill up with "inventory chars" filled with white items.
I will NOT delete the two high-paragon chars until i have seen a successful conversion to points.

Are the materials you get from ilvl63 even useful in RoS?
I think you'll be level 70 after your first run through Act 5 and then you need/want other items for crafting.

You have to remember that Blizzard stated that white items will become very valuable in RoS. This implies that they are MUCH harder (far less drop rate) to find than in vanilla D3, and because of that, it makes sense that they will not be salvageable in RoS. My guess is that they will be marked as Legacy items or maybe even their own category as unsalvageable.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: With Paragon 2.0, the Paragon Levels from all of your characters before RoS will be consolidated into Paragon Points. Paragon Levels are not account wide until you buy and install RoS, so I would not delete any characters until the conversion is done. (If you delete them in RoS, the Paragon Points will not be lost, by the way.)
