Question about socketing

Im currently making a level 30 zealot, and im going to use twitchthroe so I can get to a 4 frame attack....

If i up the twitch and stick a 24 max jewel into in which has a level requirement of 27, will that take the level requirement of my twitch over 30?

I have a twitch with a 19 maxer in it (level 18 jewel), would it be better to up that one instead?

jewel doesnot increase lvl req in your case but as twitch ups from studded leather -> trellised armor lvl req for base unique shall increase around between 30-40 i guess (maybe lower than 30, dont know). when socketing jewel/gem/rune the higher lvl req of jewel/gem/rune or base item lvl req shall determine the item's final lvl req.

With very few exceptions an items requirement level will be the greater of:

The base item level
Any Magic/Rare/Unique Mod requirement levels
Any Socketed Gems
Any Socketed Runes
Any Socketed Jewels

Twitch has a requirement of 16
The Jewel you want to put in has a requirement of 27
The upped armor (Trellised) has a requirement of 25 (you also need 61 strength)

Therefore to use the armor you will need to be Level 27. Which seeing as you are making a Level 30 will be ok.

Don't up the Twitch with the +19Maxer, it's a very nice Level 18 Item but not nearly as good as an upped one with a +24Maxer and once upped you won't be able to use it on a Level 18 character anymore as the level requirement will be 25.

Cool, I read somewhere that there is a hidden +5 level addition when you socket certain things into upped items so didnt want to put a valuable jewel into an armour and then not be able to use it!

It's +5 for normal->exceptional and +7 for exceptional->elite.

If you put a jewel with rlevel 27 in it the level req for the upped twitch will be 27+5 = 32.
