Question about socketing with zod

Hi everyone,

Ive been playing Diablo 2 for about 4 months now and enjoying it very much. The other day i was lucky enough (i think) to get an etheral HoZ (193%ed) from Hell Meph.

Im planning to socket it with a zod to make it undestructible, thus removing the durability number, right?

My question is, if i then unsocket the zod with the hel recipe to put something else in the socket (eg. um rune), will the Hoz stay undestructible?

Thx for your replies

(1) U r not likely to ever see a Zod drop - in the stats forum we calculated that you would need to play for 8 hours a day every day in Hell river of flame for about 5 years to get a zod.

(2) It would loose its indestrutablilty if u removed the Zod - with the zod rune it still looks ethereal , its similar if you socket a normal item, and then use the hel rune formulae - use loose the benefit of the rune.

(3) If u unsocketed the item, u would loose the Zod - that would be a very expensive unsocket.

Nice shield BTW .. I would probably use it on a Hammerdin since not many monsters get clear hits on them - and when it gets down to like 2-3 durability then I would put it aside just in case u manage to find one , one day :)

thx for the quick reply, but I feel it dont answer throughly my question.

I did remark that undestructible items (eg. butcher cleaver, phase blades...) dont have durability. What I was wondering for is if you socket something with zod, will the durability disapear or will it stay there and you "only" get the undestructible mod?

Because if there is no more durability, maybe you can unsocket it and still it will be undestructible?

I made a Death runeword in an ethereal axe 2 weeks ago and the durability disapeared as of the undestructible mod. But i dont feel like unsocketing it just to verify if the base axe will still be undestructible... :p

The item's durability appears again, and the 'indestructable' mod disappears if you unsocket the zod out of the item.

i've heard about a bug where if u removed the zod with the unsocketing formula, the item remains indestructable... but it might have been fixed..

This is what's called the "zod glitch". It happens when you have socketed a zod into an item in 1.09, or in the first week or so of 1.10, and then unsocket the zod in 1.10. The item is left indestructable then.

Note that this only works if you have an item that was zod'd in 1.09 or the first week of 1.10. If you socket and unsocket an item with a zod now, it looses the indestructable mod.
