question about razor's edge

I found one of those earlier today and imo it seemed like a nice little axe with some nice mods:
40%IAS
50% open wounds
50% deadly strike

also it had ED and -defense

so why isn't it worth anything?
I checked trade value forum and apparently it's not even worth a few pgems

Hm, never looked too closely at it really. Similar stats to fleshripper, but that has crushing blow and slows target. I guess most people just look at the low damage and go get runewords.

I guess the simplest answer is you get better bow later on.

Most of the popular bow have +dmg per character level or good CTC to make up for the lower base damage of bow. Windforce, Eaglehorn, Buriza and Witchwild String just to name a few. Let's not forget Faith Runewords that grant lv 12-15 Fana aura.

Even at lower level, some Runewords with high elemental damage would do more damage.

it's too slow for a kicker and for anyone else using it, the range is only one.

It's actually quite a very nice item. It's like a mini Death Cleaver. It's probaly not worth much at all due to the several available weapons that can somehow top it in regions like damage, etc., but if you were untwinked, it makes for a godly end game weapon.

Duh! my bad. Now I can see why it's not worth much. Deadly Strike is a waste on weapon with such low base damage. OW could be useful but not a mod that one should focus on esp at lower level. This make a lousy kicker weapon too, no CB and since DS not transferring to kick, so it's useless. 50% OW is overkill for kicker.

Well he did not indicate he was a kicker.

Razor's edge is only used if there isn't anything better, with a range of 1, it is nothing great............

Well, it's only common sense that if a weapon has good mod but low damage, it make a somewhat decent kicker weapon. In a sense, I probably would said it's the only way to salvage a low damage unique weapon. All in all, I think he's concern about the reselling price of the axe rather than actually using it. So whether or not he's a kicker is not an issue.

not just kicking, but blade fury can also make a low-level unique (crushflange) into a good utility

Isn't Blade Fury also transfer 3/4 of weapon damage? Won't it make sense to get a better weapon? This could be a decent starter weapon for Blade Fury build though.

Range 1 doesn't really matter for anything. It's just rather common and there are cheap options that are better than it.

The most annoying point about it is durability (true for all 1 handed axes). If it's all you have though it works fine on a Fanazealer or Frenzy/WW barb.

you don't use blade fury/crushflange for the low level damage, you use it to apply crushing blow from a safe distance... to whittle down tough opponents who you refuse to just skip...

for that matter, if you wield a weapon that has all these mods, you can apply crushing blow, open wounds, slow, etc. ... via blade fury

Or you could use a weapon with high damage and get the CB or OW from other equipment slot. Guillaume's Face alone already give 35% cb, 15% from Gore Rider and another 15% from Duress. That's nett to 65% CB and 43% of OW. That's enough for Blade Fury build. Why would you wanna scarified weapon damage?

why to get some use out of lowly uniques in the later stages of the game, of course!

Sarcastic, I like that. If it's me, I would find the highest elemental damage weapon, and use it to the benefit of 6 frames/sec blade fury had naturally. Crushing blow is easy to obtain even if untwink. Lowly uniques could be useful in later game, but there are better option in this case.

lolz, crushflange can really be a godsend for an assassin in a game with as much restrictions as a single player tournament, though

but i see where you're coming from..
