question about itemrunning

I just made my first user at bnet and now need to do some bossruns, to get some items for my char.

Offline I would just sell/leave on ground all items that didnt fit my build.
But I have no idea whats considered valuable online.
I think I should always pick up stone of jordan, but thats about the only item I know is worth something.

Second question about gray socketed items.
How should I pick the right item for my runeword, wouldn't want to waste runes right ? (For example: there are tons of different 3 socket armors)
And are they only world drops, or where do I get them; and does the magicfind help with those?

Re: question about itemrunning

1. For what items are valuable, look through some of the build guides and some of the trading forums to get an idea of what people are looking for.

2. What items to use for what runewords can also be figured out with the same method. Though for the lower level (Insight, Spirit swords, etc.) runewords, it doesn't really matter what you use.

As for MF and socketables: Use LESS MF to get more socketables. MF increases the chance of items being unique/set/rare/magic instead of plain/superior/socketed, so try not to have any MF if possible.

Edit: Oh, and MF doesn't affect rune drops either, as those are treated as "normal" items by the game.

off-line, you can use Atma - program for muling items in single-player. With this program you can store unlimited number of items. Check the Single Player Forum for more if you are interested.
