Can Firefox play streaming WMP?

I asked this on another message board and one person who appeared to have a better understanding of this said that you can't, and that he just has his set up so that a separate program opens and plays it, and another person is convinced, I guess, that his Firefox plays streaming WMP, so what's really the deal?

It can't find a plugin on its own and the MS page that it brings me to appears to have nothing of use.

Anyone else?

I've never had a problem

make sure you have the latest version of windows media player.

Also, try downloading the windows media player plugin: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/plugins/ (although it should have came with firefox)

Even the instructions on how to fix it are bad.

It plays now but the window is shorter than usual, so videos are distorted; pretty shoddy stuff. WMP11 looks like a total moron thought it up; complete garbage.

Guess I'll just un/reinstall WMP10 and do everything from scratch.

an alternative is just install vlc: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

it comes with the mozilla plugin
