    Question about Eth uniques..

If a unique is Eth.. and doesn't have the repair durability mod on it.. does that mean it's pretty much a throw-away, or does it not matter much?

Well, you can use it for as long as it lasts, or you can use it on a merc.

Depends, i'd choke on you if you throw away a +2 skill ethreal valor. 3 socket ethreal tombreaver is among the most expensive item in the game (in the rank of tyrael's might i think)

The thing is, there exist something called a zod rune, so if the ethreal item is good enough, someone will zod it.

Don't know if it's Zod-worthy. I mean, its a Blackhand Key so I dunno.. figured an item like that was probably semi-valuable non-ethed but eh.. s'pose I'll poke around the trade values forum.. :)

Well if it's an ethreal blackhand key then it's as good as a normal one (except cooler looking :) ) since you will never smash something with it. The same goes for things like occy... etc.

    Well..you might not : /
Before I used weap switches, whenever I encountered something with immunities, I'd beat the living crap out of it with my wand.

I used to collect ethereal weapons in 1.09 because they looked cool. My mf sorc used ethereal occulus. It lost 1 durabilty because I accidentally (and successfully) swung at Meph a few too many times.

If you're not actually using the item in a physical sense, ethereal doesn't matter.

I found a unique legendary mallet in the ancient tunnel this morning.

Thought wow eth schaeffers, was quite the let down when it turned out to be a stone crusher.

Looks like Uncle Fester is gonna have a new iron golem :drink:

Questions you ask yourself when you find an Ethereal:

    1) Is it a good item for a mercenary? If so, keep.

    2) Is it a weapon for a casting character, eg, Occy? If so, keep.

    3) Is it worth socketing with a Zod? If so, keep.

    4) Is it good enough so that someone may wish to use it anyway, until it breaks? (eg. 40mf chancies, 50mf travs, etc). If so, keep, possibly trade at depreciated value.

If you get to this point and haven't resolved to keep the item, throw it away.

Anyone want to add rules? Go ahead.
