Question about eth items:

I asked a javazon I saw what weapon she was using, said eth titans revenge. Am I missing something here with there being some secret way to repair those or are they just simply eventually going to break.

On a side note, how do you upgrade items?

Titan's Revenge has the mod "replenishes quantity" so you don't need to repair it.

You upgrade by using the horadric cube. For Titan's, the recipe is pul+lum+p.emerald+titans.

Javelins (or any thrown weapon plus bows for that matter) don't have durability so they can never break.

That is correct for bows. Javelins however have quantity instead of durability so it will never break but will run out as you use it especially when you throw so much. Once the quantity reaches 0 then it becomes unusable just like when an item breaks.

Throwing weapons do have durability, except it's hidden:
Code:
Normal weapon dur Excep weapon dur Elite weapon dur
Throwing Knife 4 Battle Dart 6 Flying Knife 6
Throwing Axe 6 Francisca 15 Flying Axe 15
Balanced Knife 8 War Dart 20 Winged Knife 20
Balanced Axe 10 Hurlbat 16 Winged Axe 16
Javelin 2 War Javelin 10 Hyperion Jav 10
Pilum 3 Great Pilum 12 Stygian Pilum 12
Short Spear 4 Simbilan 14 Balrog Spear 14
Glaive 5 Spiculum 16 Ghost Glaive 16
Throwing Spear 6 Harpoon 18 Winged Harpoon 18
Maiden Javelin 6 Ceremonial Jav 6 MatriarchalJav 6
When the durability reaches 0, one is deducted from the quantity and the durability is reset.
Note that for ethereal weapons the durability is base_dur/2 + 1, rounded down. Upgrading should reset this back to non-eth.

if you upgrade eth titans, the durality per javelin will be the same as non eth, thought you will still have eth titans.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up.

So basically with with eth titans you just have to watch your quantity and give it time to replenish before it runs out.

Wow, amazing, is this when you only use them in melee, or also when thrown?

I actually can't remember if the durability is reset or kept as is when throwing. In any case, it's only checked when using melee attacks.

As a rule of thumb, once an item has the mod "repairs durability in xx secs", "replenishes quantity" or "indestructible", you would want to have it in ethereal form to take advantage of the mod (read: enhanced damage/defense without eventually breaking).
